As a uni student, edge is incredible for research. I can open a journal article as a pdf and have co-pilot quickly skim through it to see if it contains what I'm looking for. In 5 seconds, it can tell me if its worth going through a 400 page pdf to look for stuff or not. No other browser I've heard of can tailor that specific need. Haven't touched chrome in over a year.

DuckDuckGo still uses elements from Chromium too, but people tend to say that's in the top 5 safest search engines and is a powerful browser for privacy. With a whole bunch of options to block cookies and trackers and completely clear any cookies and all traces of your current session from your device.

I use arc browser, you can hide the sidebar and make it pop out when you hover to the side. It has a lot of cool features like the ability to change the color of websites and have it edit the look of websites like text, size, and even delete sections you don't want to see. (It saves it for when you come back). Has a lot of other features as well. I also occasionally use safari and firefox. I need firefox to slim down its UI and I'll come back.

Blink forked from WebKit in '08, and WebKit handles things differently these days from Blink. They're both from the KHTML codebase but I wouldn't consider Konquerer to be chrome, and Safari is the same way.

Chrome ships all your data to Google. Edge ships all your data to MS. Firefox and Safari (so far anyway) seem to be reasonably privacy-safe. Unfortunately Safari is probably the *quirkiest* of them all. Brave puts on a good show of being privacy-safe, but it seems *awfully* pushy about it, which raises a warning for me. Arc is a *really* cool UI concept that I like a lot, but *requiring* a sync account is a red flag. My preference would be something like an option to emulate Arc's UI in Firefox.

Been using Vivaldi since it first released. I used to use Opera. They sold to Chinese interests and removed tons of features(they have since bought many back). Went to Firefox with a ton of extensions to make it similar to what opera was. Then switched to Vivaldi when I heard of it

I LOVE Arc Browser and yeah I wish the sidebar could be customized more in terms of shrinking down the icon size .. but it can be hidden and brought back using keyboard shortcuts. You can drug it from the edge to shrink it down a little which is nice. What I love about Arc is what Austin mentioned .. how it handles opening links. There are UI changes that need to be done but I just wish it were available for Android. I am a unicorn in terms of I love the Mac but also love Android.

I use Arc and Safari. Depends on what I need to do. Sometimes Safari doesn’t work with certain sites and same goes for arc. But I love Arc. The UI doesn’t have to be up all the time. A simple hotkey and its gone. and you have this cute simple window to work from. And it has a built in split screen system to where you don’t have to open new windows. Spaces! Are.. amazing. I think its doing well tbh. I do wish it wasn’t chromium based though. But it still seems better to work from.

I use firefox on mobile and PC, made the full switch about a year ago, and Ill never go back to chrome or any chromium based browser again. It has been the best, least intrusive, and most private browser Ive ever used. I run full adblocker and privacy extensions (like privacy badger) to further strengthen my internet privacy, and its been excellent. 10/10 recommend

Microsoft owns windows 10 and microsoft edge so its an eco system thing as well especially microsoft copilot unlike google ai, just another failed project like google stadia, I find Copilot to be extremely useful for daily life.

before chrome, i was a firefox user.. havent touched it since highschool when we could use the proxy in firefox to get around the firewalls and get on myspace.. eventually the district changed the agreement and made everyone sign again saying that they wont run programs off their USB devices.. that was my mark on the district before graduating xD. but even further back Netscape was my go to browser in the windows 95-98 days. now i just switch between chrome and safari cause of mac and having everything just easily port over from iphone to mac safari without any switching is super nice

I use brave, which is based off chrome, but I uss it because of the built in adblocker (that will not be affected by manifest v3), sync accross all my devices (windows, android, and ipad), and the fact that it works very well. I might switch to firefox, if there was a privacy focused fork that ran on all my devices, with built in sync.

I use arc on my huge work monitor but vivaldi on my 14" macbook. You can hide the sidebar on arc but the one thing i wish they would add is a third mode where you only see the favicons and no text. That would be enough to feel like i still see my tabs but not take up so much space.

I like to use Vivaldi. It's chromium based, different enough from chrome but also similar. It's very enjoyable to me. It's also on mobile. I sync my account so all my stuff is in both locations at all times.

It may sound funny but I use Waterfox simply for the customization options that have been removed from Firefox. I insist on having a menu at the top and having my tabs below the address bar. There are a few other customizations I use but those are the top two that Firefox felt they needed to arbitrarily remove to force users to work under the "vision" of their developers.

I used Firefox a lot but not in the past few years. As someone who moved to a country where I don't know the language and most websites do not have an English version or the English version is just an about us page in English. Chrome and Edge has been my go to browser because each session I have at least few pages in a language that I don't understand fully so Chrome translate features are the only way I can use them. If Firefox had a translate feature or even Safari on my Mac, I would change in a heartbeat.

I've never been a fan of Chrome, when it came out I felt very basic, so I stuck with Internet Explorer, then moved to firefox when due to some issue with RAM, it kept crashing, then also started using Edge over the past few years when certain site just didn't load properly on Firefox, Now I use Edge and Firefox. On Mobile I use...whatever, it could be edge, Samsung's Browser, Chrome, I don't even know half the time.

The organization isn't signing everyone up for chrome premium, this is the standard format for purchasing licenses for enterprise software. This is affordable and offers a lot of security management tools in one place that any shop that uses google services could greatly benefit from. It's not aimed at the consumer and the consumer won't have to partake. If you want to browse This is at the office, do it from your cell phone and off the company wi-fi. Your work computer should be for work, always, and nothing else. After all, any IT organization worth its salt knows exactly what is going on on each and every workstation.

I use Floorp on desktop, (basically a Firefox clone that’s got better defaults, and some nice UI options, and Firefox (technically Safari because I’m ion iOS and iPad for mobile stuff), on mobile stuff. Actually I do use standard Sfari on iPad for certain sites because it can cut back on ads with some of my extensions. but yeah, on desktop it’s all Floorp, though I do keep FF around as a fallback. I only ever use Edge to get Floorp or FF. I find it too naggy.

I do the same as Kinsey, firefox on both android and pc. Only bust out chrome when I need to google translate a page.

FYI: modern Chromium is an offshoot of WebKit (Safari), which itself is an offshoot of KHTML

A mix of Chrome and Edge is what I use on my PC and a mix of Safari and Chrome on my iPhone. Not gonna be paying for premium Chrome, fun fact I don’t even have KZbin premium available here in Namibia.

Arc is looking like it was made for ultrawide monitors. Firefox user. Works flawlessly on PC, very annoyed on Android. Sometimes it doesn't show me a page that i typed on search bar. It's just empty. About chromium being so huge, if you know about fingerprinting, most privacy focused browsers could hide under most user browser (yes, chome), boosting it's numbers.

Chrome still has google's superior search. I hate Edge's search results, especially if you have to click on an image and it tumbles into opening a million tabs and sidebars. Firefox is dying, unfortunately. Opera is very good. Safari and Edge are okay. Chrome sucks at a lot of stuff, but has the best search.

I've never understood why people use Safari on their MacBooks. It hasn't been updated in like over 10 years.
