Yeah. I pull a hose from the laundry room and use softened water (we have terrible well water) and a foam cannon. I use waterless cleaner/wash/wax or detailer if I have a bird crap on my car and it's only a little dusty. But that's where I draw the line. BTW, Scotty calls that oxidation a "patina". The water is beading because it doesn't want to touch that thing.

If it's dirty, rubbing the dirt with a rag will cause the paint to scratch, nothing like soap and water, this is only good for maintaining the car clean between water and soap car washes.

As a professional car detailer, I’m shaking my head. These “scientific geniuses” are helping you ruin your paint job by basically grinding the dirt into it. You can also see the streaks of the product left on your car from the angles you’ve shown, especially on black cars. Whoever details or even waxes your vehicles is going to have a fun time fixing the things you’ve done to your truck😂.

I only use products like these and spray waxes after self-service spray washes or yes when a bird shits on my whip, but if my care has a nasty film all over it...I take it to the wash before I even think about trying to scrub it down with these products destroying you clearcoat luster. Also. RainX and clear coats breakdown wax protection much faster than soap does, so you have to remember to rewax it more often.

Make sure to use a clean microfiber towel when cleaning your car like this. Scotty used what appears to be a shop towel. NEVER use shop towels or any paper-based towel on your paint. You'll only scratch it up like that.

I’ve been a detailer for 11 years and I agree. I used it on my black dodge nitro and I keep it clean with barely any swirls in it and used waterless wash and it was the worst stuff I ever used. The 6 hours I spent polishing my car was a complete waste.

Never wash a car without first rinsing off the large particles of dust and dirt. This was my first "I Dislike This" checkmark for a Scotty Kilmer video! I think Scotty has crossed over to the Dark Side for reviewing products like he did here.

True. Especially when you had mud or heavy dirt sitting on the paint, that'll scratch your paint for sure. And beware how you wipe any contaminant on it. However, you could use a waterless wash "in between" car washes. Or when you need to keep your car looking fresh when you have stored vehicles or when after drive it to a car show that has a small amount of dust on it.

Just a warning, you do not wash it back and fourth, the formula encapsulates the dirt but wiping back and fourth scrubs it into the paint. You are supposed to do one clean swipe. Then buff with a microfiber

Um, thats good for a spot clean but not washing. You must use water and a good formulated car wash soap, to properly clean your vehicle. But if you are going to dry. use microfiber not a paper towel as it will scratch the clear coat.

For those who obviously don't know how this product works, here's the steps. 1. Car must be ceramic coated 2. Only use this method on relatively clean cars 3. Use only brand new micro fiber towels (fold towl into fours that way you have eight total clean sides and switch every panel 4. Lightly mist towel (two squarts) 5. If paint is relatively clean don't bother spraying if dirty mist the paint 6. Circular motion wipe the car down And to be clear this cleaning method only works to safely clean paint on cars that are not too dirty to begin with. I've been doing this for years on my black dually and dodge charger and I can assure you the paint is a mirror. And that takes using the right methods.

That brand also makes a rain repellent product, hence the name, that works pretty good on windshield. A lot of bikers like myself use it on their helmet visors so the raindrops just bead off and visibility is far better on rainy days.

I removed it straight after as it was pretty dangerous. I get that you can do without using wipers but still, I prefer total clear vision so I would always use wipers to rid the windscreen of the droplets.

as someone who tested a few methods on my Old Bmw before the repainting.... this is by far the worst... the method that i saw work best (depending on your... patience and dedication) is to few coats of thicc soap suds from a foam cannon, give it some time for the dirt to roll off , rinse it off and apply the 2nd coat... after you see it's clean you can dry it with a Blower or apply a Ceramic coat (some can be applied to a wet car other's can't or aren't recommended, you will then see the water repellant in action (touch less wash) , also makes washing your car much more easier now the method has some variations like the 2 bucket method and such, reduces swirl marks, scratches , paint chipping but does require a hand mitten to scrub the car This method though even with a Microfiber cloth towel will damage your paint

it's not dusty in japan, so they can get away with only using a spray. if your car is dirty, you're scratching the paint with your spray and wipe method, which conveniently covers up the scratch marks you make with a wax or silicone. water and suds loosen dirt. then you use a lamb wool mitten to scrub without scratching. sponges scratch.

If it’s only a little dusty or something sure but if you have dirt or mud or anything big you will scratch the hell outa that paint. You’ll be rubbing the debris all over the paint causing heavy swirling. Would not recommend. Rinse first and then use it

No, 2 microfiber towels, spray, let soak for a few seconds, wipe in ONE direction with 1, BUFF with the other, and DONT do it in direct sunlight, or let it dry on the paint. Griots garage or 303 is the preferred choice.

I am guessing Scotty knows that using paper towels to clean the car is a no no. I use really soft paper towels to remove the bird dung only, then I use the microfiber towel for the rest. The rain x works really well and so does the Meguiar's. The wash does not scratch my paint at all and makes it look like it was just washed and waxed. You could use it most of the time and do a thorough wash a few times a year, depending on where you live.

It’s silicone based it may look like it’s cleaning but your smearing all the dirt on you car and scratching up your finish. It’s hide a lot of imperfections in the paint and also helps bead off water but that’s all it doing.

Waterless wash can be a great option but it has its limit. You can't use it if your car is extremely dirty so waterless wash is really only for general routine wash of light dirt and dust. Second, you'll need a soft microfiber cloth and you need to gently wipe is a single direction so you don't rub the dirt into the paint and scratch.

Just stick to the mechanics. You’re not a body guy. There’s a reason why they pressure wash a car off first before rubbing the dirt into the paint. You mind as well pair that spray cleaner with a piece of 400grit sand paper to wipe it clean.

They need to build dam out there they drain 75%?of rainwater in the ocean. To save a crawfish 🦞 now when they can’t fight fires and their children don’t have water to drink it will be to late to build one . It takes time to build one that will last for a long time. There was a product called Dri Wash over 20 years ago, and it was marketed to lots of people in the Southwest part of the country. Water can get expensive down here.

And this is why people come into my detail shop once a week complaining about “light scratching all over” Yeah this is how it happens. Just wash ur car normally or spend like 120 a year on a good detail and a opus one sealant, re wax in a month and boom ur paint is sealed for a year and all you gotta do is rinse and dry and re coat with opus once a year

If you use a carwash you have scratches. The rainx botle looks good for just 3 washes. Water is cheaper. Pennies for a cubic feet. I some places it's illegal to wash your car when there's a drought.
