Hey Scotty, I love the fact that you genuinely are a honest mechanic. I wish we had more guys like you around here in lawrenceburg Tennessee. One of the main reasons I became a mechanic myself. I just saved my stepson $3500 dollars in repairs because the mechanic he took it to said he had a blown head gasket and even offered to buy his truck off of him. It just had a cracked lower radiator hose assembly and needed a coolant flush. Runs like a dream now.

Seafoam is oil-based cleaner and doesn't have PEA. When pour it in TB, the oil delay cleaners so it can pass thru exhaust valve and clean behind it. Any engine rebuilder will say deposit behind exhaust valve is the main cause of engine failure. It can causes everything from loss power, sticky valves to blow headgasket and engine. Both Seafoam and Gumout w/ PEA are my favorite and kept many of my engine well into 3 -4 - 500kmi.

One tip on the Gumout product - only use it on the tank of gas immediately before you do an oil change. Most of the “gunk” that is cleaned out of your engine and fuel system by this product is washed down into your oil - by using it just before an oil change you minimize the amount of time you are running your engine with these contaminants in your oil. I have used this product on all of my vehicles for many years and with good results!
@peggyford38015 жыл бұрын
ddellwo Thanks for that tip too! I’m glad I read it!
@GilsTestChannel5 жыл бұрын
ddellwo , How many years and miles did you use it for, and how often did you put it into the gas tank?
@ddellwo5 жыл бұрын
@@GilsTestChannel - I have used it on all of the vehicles I have purchased over the last 20-30 years. For new cars I start on the second oil change (since I usually do my first at around 500-750 miles) and then just before every 3000 mile oil change after that for as long as I own the vehicle. I tend to purchase my vehicles new and keep them for 10+ years and usually put on in excess of 200,000 miles. In all honesty, even keeping them that long, I have never finally gotten rid of a vehicle that still wasn’t running pretty well - for most I have finally sold them because they start to drip oil and I grow tired of the staining on the driveway.

It has been 19 months since I saw this video, and I have been using the RainX Waterless cleaner ever since. All of our cars look great, especially our black 2004 Explorer. Most people are amazed that it is 17 years old with the original paint. Great shine to it, and I use it on all surfaces, including the glass. If it is raining and I am driving on the freeway, I can usually turn my wipers off, and the water will just blow off. Use 2 microfiber cloths. One for cleaning, and the second for wiping the film off. (Wax on- Wax off). If it is very dusty/ dirty, I'll hose it off first.

I've used ONR (Optimum No Rinse), which is not a strict waterless wash, but close. You put a cap of ONR in a bucket of purified water ($2 for 4litres) and wash the car with folded-over microfibre cloths soaked in that solution - switching sides as needed and using a new cloth when all sides are dirty. Dry each panel as you go. It lubricates, cleans and leaves a nice shine. Water even beads up on the paint afterwards (it must leave a wax coating) My preferred method of washing a car these days - No rolling out and back in hoses, power-washers, etc. Simple

@@MEGABOINK65 I do the same thing but before I start using the waterless carwash, I first dust it off with the California dust mop to remove loose dirt.

Love Rain-x products. Been using the windshield product and wipers for years. After watching this I will probably try this. Scotty,I love watching your videos. It's knowledge with natural humor. These kind of videos don't impress my wife but yours she enjoys watching when I have one for her to look at. I also recommend your videos to my friends that work on cars. Keep up the good work.

I've been using Rain-X windscreen wash/ treatment for years, on everything from my car to the trucks (big rigs, 18 wheelers) I used to drive. Awesome products. Helps preserve the wiper blade edges too.

I knew about the wiper blades, used them for years and agree 100%. Still like the Mcguire's car wash and water though.

You were talking about silicon wiper blades resting on windshields during extremely hot temperatures. My wife and I lived and now vacation in Thailand. If Thais are unable to park in the shade they will lift the windshield wipers off the glass and then put them back down before driving. This is their way of improving the durability of the wipers.

Sure don't rince with water. Just wipe out the stuff mixed with small sand particles and make nice micro scratches. Visited the plant so it must me real.

I agree Scotty Rain-X is a great product. I use it between regular car washes and it keeps my car looking really nice. I love how the water beads up when it rains.👍
