Hey Scotty, I love the fact that you genuinely are a honest mechanic. I wish we had more guys like you around here in lawrenceburg Tennessee. One of the main reasons I became a mechanic myself. I just saved my stepson $3500 dollars in repairs because the mechanic he took it to said he had a blown head gasket and even offered to buy his truck off of him. It just had a cracked lower radiator hose assembly and needed a coolant flush. Runs like a dream now.

This product might loosen the dirt but if you don't rinse the dirt off your car before drying it will leave fine scratches in the paint. I know, I've used this product. If you buff and wax your car often, great product
@im1who84u
@im1who84u 5 жыл бұрын
2:07 That might be true that IT doesn't scratch the finish on your car, but the dirt you are dragging across the finish of your car is. It's like a fine sandpaper that will over time put micro scratches on the finish of your car. Having said that. It's not a bad choice if you don't have access to water at your place of residence, but honestly, if it were me I'd drive to one of those wash it yourself car washes.

Seafoam is oil-based cleaner and doesn't have PEA. When pour it in TB, the oil delay cleaners so it can pass thru exhaust valve and clean behind it. Any engine rebuilder will say deposit behind exhaust valve is the main cause of engine failure. It can causes everything from loss power, sticky valves to blow headgasket and engine. Both Seafoam and Gumout w/ PEA are my favorite and kept many of my engine well into 3 -4 - 500kmi.

One tip on the Gumout product - only use it on the tank of gas immediately before you do an oil change. Most of the “gunk” that is cleaned out of your engine and fuel system by this product is washed down into your oil - by using it just before an oil change you minimize the amount of time you are running your engine with these contaminants in your oil. I have used this product on all of my vehicles for many years and with good results!

@ddellwo
@ddellwo 5 жыл бұрын
@@GilsTestChannel - I have used it on all of the vehicles I have purchased over the last 20-30 years. For new cars I start on the second oil change (since I usually do my first at around 500-750 miles) and then just before every 3000 mile oil change after that for as long as I own the vehicle. I tend to purchase my vehicles new and keep them for 10+ years and usually put on in excess of 200,000 miles. In all honesty, even keeping them that long, I have never finally gotten rid of a vehicle that still wasn’t running pretty well - for most I have finally sold them because they start to drip oil and I grow tired of the staining on the driveway.

It has been 19 months since I saw this video, and I have been using the RainX Waterless cleaner ever since. All of our cars look great, especially our black 2004 Explorer. Most people are amazed that it is 17 years old with the original paint. Great shine to it, and I use it on all surfaces, including the glass. If it is raining and I am driving on the freeway, I can usually turn my wipers off, and the water will just blow off. Use 2 microfiber cloths. One for cleaning, and the second for wiping the film off. (Wax on- Wax off). If it is very dusty/ dirty, I'll hose it off first.

Regardless of the technology, I'm still really skeptical of waterless cleaners. I am concerned about haze development by not having water to rinse away the dirt which would cause scratches. However, having said that -- I'd be willing to accept a case of the RainX demo'd to try it out on my Camry :-)

When you wipe it off then you're rubbing the dirt on your clear coat. No thanks. I rinse off my car with pressure water then wipe it off with microfiber, then use a good cleaner.

Will try the RainX waterless car wash, I was always under the impression that you had to use hose water to get the the loose dirt so you didn’t scratch the paint or clear coat.

Use this like a concentrated pre-treater - either to spot/problem areas or a light mist over an entirely filthy car after a blasting of clods / debris- for the "lifting" action? ... Then, spray off followed by inspection to check for efficacy / progressing to the standard car wash soaping? 🤔

I've used ONR (Optimum No Rinse), which is not a strict waterless wash, but close. You put a cap of ONR in a bucket of purified water ($2 for 4litres) and wash the car with folded-over microfibre cloths soaked in that solution - switching sides as needed and using a new cloth when all sides are dirty. Dry each panel as you go. It lubricates, cleans and leaves a nice shine. Water even beads up on the paint afterwards (it must leave a wax coating) My preferred method of washing a car these days - No rolling out and back in hoses, power-washers, etc. Simple

The stuff itself may not scratch or harm your finish but the dirt youre dragging across the finsih with that stuff will. There is a reason to rinse your car with water first.
@im1who84u
@im1who84u 5 жыл бұрын
2:07 That might be true that IT doesn't scratch the finish on your car, but the dirt you are rubbing across the finish of your car is. It's like a fine sandpaper that will over time put micro scratches on the finish of your car. Having said that. It's not a bad choice if you don't have access to water at your place of residence, but honestly, if it were me I'd drive to one of those wash it yourself car washes.

You were talking about silicon wiper blades resting on windshields during extremely hot temperatures. My wife and I lived and now vacation in Thailand. If Thais are unable to park in the shade they will lift the windshield wipers off the glass and then put them back down before driving. This is their way of improving the durability of the wipers.
