At least with the people I know in America, we like accents. As long as we can still understand what you are saying. It's better to speak fluent English with a accent than accentless English that is not as fluent in grammar, Vocabulary, pronoucistions, slang, idioms, expressions, etc. Plus usually we can understand different accents. People from Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, England have accents that Americans can hear & notice but we still understand. Unless in U.K. they use a different word than we do in US that means the same thing. Or use same word that means something different. But that's just part of the fun! And the wonderful world of Global English.

"Stop worrying about your accent",

Hi Marina! I am a 16 year old boy from the Netherlands🇳🇱, and in about 1,5 years I will study at an university (I have 1 year left to choose). My study will either be a business or econom(etr)ics study(both taught in english), do you have any tips for me that will help to pick out the right study? Something like what kind of questions are helpful to ask the students and teachers. In the future I want to move to NY, San Francisco or Seattle to work in the finance or consultant industry, this might be of use for the tip!😄

Don’t ever worry about an American judging you because of your accent. If they’re not giving you props for learning English then they’re clowns and you probably don’t want to talk to them anyways. P.s. I love Accents, makes rhyming a cinch.

"Stop worrying about your accent in English" and one of your last videos is about your American accent xD. You should worry more about your speech when you speak. Because I've seen comments talking about that

You don't have to "lose" your Russian accent it's just beneficial to gain a couple of more accents. It gives you greater flexibility in communication. Greater options and opportunities too. When you talk about "losing" your old accent it sounds like you're speaking out of fear and we Americans banned fear years ago ha ha. I think it was during the FDR Administration. I know Trump is trying to bring it back but it isn't going to stick.

She might be original but she was raised in the states or move to the states when she was a child. You can tell by just how neutral her American accent is.

NO, your accent DOES matter! If you are in Russia, please find a teacher (could be Russian too) who knows and can teach you the main English sounds and how to avoid the most common mistakes in words like "sheet" vs. .... It is important NOT to talk fast. I see a lot of people are making mistakes when they talk fast.

No such phrasing as "more slowly". It's slower. As in speak slower, not more slowly. You can't speak slower than shower unless you want to vocalize one letter @ a time. Grammar in this country is horrible!
@jcm3jcm36 жыл бұрын
No, "more slowly" is correct, if you're comparing degrees of slowness.
