Some people just hate fishing and hunting and they will call the law enforcement if only to disrupt you for a few minutes. They are hoping that you are doing something wrong and will get fined or arrested so always make sure you are legal. Karen’s are everywhere!

I dropped them for many years too until somebody brought it to me attention and after I thought about it, I have to agree the net is the proper way to return them to the water. I'm not sure how it is with black drum. But when they stock remote ponds they drop them from airplanes. I would probably personally try with the net, but im sure the fish is fine

@@jemmani22 They only stock tiny, 2 inch trout in those remote ponds. The trout land like a leaf. i've personally seen multiple 40 inch snook float off after being dropped.

Brad...a while back i told you about connecting a shower curtain hook or clasp to your drop net rope ...itll guide the fish into your drop net....old salt showed me this e0 years ago...itll make peir netting ALOT easier....FISH ON

Back in the early 80s, I was stationed there in flight school. We would race across the old bridge after McGuires closed at 0200 and hit a club at the beach that always had live music and didn’t close until 0300. We would race across the bridge until the hump hitting speeds over 120 in my ‘66 Stingray. The old bridge is gone, but I still have the car.

Did you see the 6-8 foot shark come up and take a look at your first fish? Look at about the 2:00 position from the fish, right after the edit while dropping the net. He looks, rolls over and dives in about 2 seconds.

I think I'd be using steel leader. When I used to fish the piers of southern California, I'd use 40 pound test and 60 to 80 pound steel leader. Never got cut off, or lost rigs. I miss it. Looks like if nothing else, you guys had fun.

It turns out that if you have your license and don't have illegal fish and you're not doing anything illegal then the grouper troopers don't have any reason to get ugly with you. You guys are usually mostly legal so you don't have a problem.

They pretty much look identical to the drum we have caught forever in the Gasconade River down in the Missouri Ozarks.... Seems to this day, people still think of it as a trash fish, when the exact opposite is true.... When you fillet them out, about 1/4 of the slabs are lost removing the "blood line" that runs with the length of the fish.... (which is excellent cubed bait for pole fishing) The remaining flesh ends up white, flaky, very tasty meat not even out done by the coveted flathead catfish.... I'm only 67 years young, and I have proven this fact to many a people thru the years, when they could not tell the difference between the two... My old friend Bill Owens (Owensville Mo. was named after his Grampa) told me about how good drum was... Bill and his brother Ernest as boys used to ride in their fathers buckboard pulled by their 2 jennies down t0 the river with their corn and other vegetables and rabbits and chickens and bacon and hams for trading when the steam boat came by on usually on Tuesdays going up and Fridays coming back down stream... Bill Owens and his sons were very good country people... Bill passed away in 1976 at the age of 97..... He ate bacon and or ham and eggs with hash browns fried with lard and real butter on his jellied toast with black coffee Every day of his adult life... and he was ALWAYS workin on a cigar... Just think of all the things his generation witnessed during that time span... I think the telephone was invented like 2 years before he was born... Same with my Gramma... she was born in 1911 and passed in 2007.... She saw a lot also....
