Regarding the "who Old Nan actually is" discussion around 44:47. George has always liberally borrowed "inspiration" from other works. So in a meta-sense Old Nan always struck me as heavily inspired by "Dr Cornelius" from Prince Caspian. And considering he was half-dwarven, having Old Nan be part "Child of the Forest" would definitely track.
