I definitely prefer this more human looking face for kintaro, I feel it's a better representation of the character from mk2... but it would have been really great to get an mk9 style cat face among the alternate heads as a display option!

Cat-like is the way to go. I think his MKX comic design was the best to date and it had the most feline features to date.

Storm is synonymous with premium. I think I have about 10 of their figures now. Sagat and Chun Li are two of my all-time favorites of any line. They're so perfect.

The cat face is more appropriate for his original concept. He’s called Kintaro because a Kintaro is a mythical Tiger-Man from Japanese folklore, and MKII Kintaro was meant to BE that creature, but they ran out of budget,so they just redid Goro up in tiger stripes.

Oh yes I love them also .. I have lots of McFarlanes which are nice too but not that great a storm’s collection Is there a page that I can keep an eye on with new releases ? Cause I just see them passing by on Google .. now I know they gonna bring Kano and Shao Kahn on that throne 🤩 but that’s about it

Storm's one of my favourites, too. I don't have any intention of picking up Kintaro, but I still enjoyed watching this just because I really appreciate the quality that Storm puts into their products. I also prefer this face to the cat face; it just feels a little more unsettling and unusual to me

dude before i even clicked on the video i was gonna ask about making us a more accurate head sculpt for this. there's a huge storm mk following. in fact we could use a more accurate head for their goro while you're at it. and a better head for baraka. and the mk2 style cowl heads for the original mk ninjas they did. i could go on. yes, please make a new kintaro head.

You should absolutely review that green arm Reptile. I’m all for the cat face Kintaro, curious what expression you’d go for. I’d absolutely buy one or two granted I don’t miss it or if you went with a puss n boots big eyed expression faced Kintaro. The bracers -might- come off because in some games he gets some clawed gauntlets in one game. I’m reaching like hell, but I wouldn’t put it past Storm to keep up this trend of including accessories for other characters in the newer releases. I just got this guy yesterday and been on the fence about opening him now or not, this is got me all the more psyched. This was a huge buy for me, bought that Sub-Zero earlier and these additional arms sold me even more. I missed out on Goro and Shao Kahn, I didn’t want to miss out on him.

I prefer the head we have now but my gripe with that is, in the game he has the same 2 toe feet like goro. So it's a bit strange that they gave him these feet that go with the feline head like they tried to compromise in a weird way. Also found it funny that you mentioned goro and shao kahn, they're probably with me 😅

The heck? There’s a cat face kintaro? Haven’t played the games for a while. Liking this figure. I don’t go for storm collectibles unless it’s a monster character, as that’s when I like the size compared to say, Legends line.

Yeah! Look up MK9 Kintaro, way more feline like in the face. Also there’s a MKX comic where Kintaro played a pretty memorable role, I think stepping up in place of Goro. Would be cool if they included that or some third party customizer did, I’d buy it. There’s definitely plenty of material to work with.

The base head is a lot more respective to his original 1993 design. But if you’re still considering it, I would appreciate a cat head. I enjoy that look from mk9 much more.

@@AnthonysCustoms I do think that storm figures have gained a bigger following for mk. The only other mk figure line active is mcfarlane. Storm is definitely the definitive way to go for Mortal Kombat. You would probably gain a substantial amount, if you made the prices considerably high for an action figure head. But obviously, the decisions up to you.

Great review Anthony! Yeah Storm can be to rich for my blood sometimes but their big characters just look sooo good. And I can see Kintaro fitting in a display fighting Mythic Legions, He-Man or Thor as well. I've only picked up the Scorpion, Sub-Zero & Reptile so far but this figure is awfully tempting.

Man, seeing how stiff kintaro’s hip joints were remind my of my storm collectibles sf5 ryu, his hip joint are so stiff the whole damn leg pops off. That and ryu’s arm snapping off at the joint from falling forward on my desk really turned me off in collect more stuff from storm.

This is the SNES version of Kintaro but I could be wrong. But that version is more intimidating and I love that version.

suuuuper disapointed about the sub zero stuff, the head is okay but i'd have preferred a special skeleton, like motaro got. kinda sucks for those that never got the ugly sub fig. but still kintaro is the best so im glad i got him

I just got this figure and he's great, but at least one of the lower leg joints will be loose. On Anthony's copy it's the left leg, but on mine it's the right side. Everything else seems solid.

I guess they included the arms in case you don't have another figure. Otherwise, you can always pull out your figure's arms, even if they aren't Sub's, and use them in your setup. I don't have another MK figure, but I DO have a Terry Bogard figure from Storm, and they are compatible, same socket size and all. So if you want to use Reptile, you can just pull out your Reptile arms off and use these for your diorama. Kintaro can hardly stand on his own though. His feet are too loose, and not flat enough. I wish they included a stand, because these are hard to find.

I'm down for the cat kintaro if it's the same 3 expressions tbh, like incase I want to show off him angry or yelling in photos and have the neutral on the shelf. I enjoy him more than goro as his ankles are better and he feels like they learned from Goro. Great review

If I could get this figure, which most likely I won't be able to, I'd add to the idea of his cat face made by you. It'd be cool to have something like that to swap the head and see your work. But I'm not sure of the design of the cat face, it reminds me of that "Cats" movie they did based on the musical and it's kind of odd haha

Unpopular opinion maybe, but I think if a company can't do all tight joints, they shouldn't do articulation :) I am so so sick of paying good money for loose floppy legs or even worse, loose ankles. I also don't pose my figures but I cannot stand things falling over because the ankles have tiny joints and I don't think you should have to tighten something you pay this much for. I@ve just ordered a Motaro and we'll see how that goes. threezero have the right idea with articulation IMHO.

yes please kitty cat face I'd jump on that bandwagon. I would say with a custom you would have a little more liberty to make him even more tiger-like as well. mk2 his original look did look more cat-like I agree. better look to go along with the rest of him. kintaro was the bane of my existence in mk2 on the snes he destroyed me more times than shao Kahn I would say back in the day. was always thrilled to get past him and then super pissed when kahn dominated me too. I used to rent that game on so many weekends from home vision video back in the days of the 5 day rental, certainly more than enough times to have actually bought the game myself, but c'est la vie. loved that damn game pumped with the figure too. super want to get that liu kang with the dragon, but holding off until maybe an amazon sale hard to pull that trigger
