Is that a MacBook? I ask because I have a MacBook Pro (2012, kinda old now), but I thought Xactimate 28 wasn’t compatible with Macs. I’m interested in becoming an IA from what I’ve heard and been looking up information about the profession, and I may need to buy another computer to use. Great videos, by the way!

I use a macbook for everything except claims. However, I DID run claims on a 2013 mbp using a bootcamp partition for about 4 years. It worked just fine. However, I don't recommend using your nice mac in the field because field work is dusty, hot, and stuff gets banged around quite a bit. I'm currently using a Dell 5000 13" for Xactimate that I got at Costco for like $750. Works just fine. Also, your 2012 will likely not have the guts to run the latest versions of xm8. Let us know what you get!

Adjuster TV Thank you for the information. I was also thinking about getting a good non-Apple laptop for this job, and using my Mac for all my normal things. I’ll look into your Dell, thanks!

Lol! Yes! "Normal things." Either way, i strongly recommend having a laptop that is ONLY use for claims. It's a tool like a ladder or a tape and I urge people to avoid watching movies or gaming etc., on their work laptop. One virus, full hard drive, etc., can take you out of commission for a day or more on cat and that can be worth thousands of dollars.
