On the night of September 14th, 1999, a Britannia Airways Boeing 757 careened off the runway on its second attempt at landing in Girona, Spain. Why was this not a typical case of a runway overrun? And how could it be true both that the weather was a factor, and that the slippery runway was not?
This video examines the nightmare crash of Britannia Airways flight 226A, and how close it came to being far worse.
I use findings from the official accident report to recreate the series of events that led to the crash.
