That's an incredible story. Fighting hypoxia n uncontrollable aircraft thats what few could have done! So sorry for all the lives lost! A lesson painfully learnt

One factor I see keep repeating in these videos is time pressure .Something which should not crop up at all, because every time I have flown the departure was nearly always behind schedule. I understand the pressure on the pilots to keep to the timetable as I am a bus driver and running late can make you rush to try and catch up sometimes but it,s always better to get there late than not at all.

Super dumb unreliable components in this thing now called internationally the horror dumb stick ( formerly a Joystick ) Dumbbus. Period me I only get on Boeing's Yoke equipped 737 or 747 Dreamliner & survive to tell the tail.

Super Extremely hazardously Dumber than dumb a Bank of Computer's & 100's of fly by wire censors ( also on Yamaha Sport bikes ) & Not one could see the Fuel draining stupidly fast ? And what about a Fuel gauge shouldn't anyone be keeping a keen eye on that One gauge that is the most important Gauge ? Had one person done that sooner rather than later they may have enough gas left to simply divert & declare a mayday & fly to the nearest airport that has a long enough runway to land the super dumber plane as the dumbbus A330. Period

My father's best friend became a Boeing 737 training captain at Gulf Air in the late 1980's - early 1990's after after leaving Ansett Airlines during the infamous Australian pilot's strike for better pay in 1989 . He had many mind boggling stories to tell about the lack of training, entitled pilot culture, poor safety record, abysmal administration and more of Gulf Air and Bahrain in general. I remember him vividly recalling a story where he was the Captain, but pilot monitoring, and the 737 was coming in for landing. He briefly looked up to check the runway at 50 feet and within those 2-3 seconds, the Bahrain co-pilot had managed to stall the plane. Obviously, he retook the controls, and organised a go-around and saved the plane from belly crashing into the tarmac. This was early in his days flying for Gulf Air and never trusted another co-pilot again. Not long after, he switched to Singapore Airlines, as a 737 Training Captain for the remainder of his career. Generally speaking, after his training experiences, he did not feel safe flying with any pilot unless they were from and trained in Australia, New Zealand, UK, USA or Canada. Of course, this is the edited version, as a strict verbatim of Ross's vernacular would have me tossed off KZbin in pertuitity. But tosser, and a few other very Aussie swear such as w**k*r, d**h**d, and f**kw**t to name a few would have speckled the language.

I think this captain was low IQ. Like just genuinely not bright. You can’t let someone like that fly a commercial aircraft.

I'm a big fan of Mayday, and your videos are an amazing technical view of airplane accidents. Having the perspective of the cockpit and instruments in detail is very fascinating. Thank you very much for the immense work you put into your videos.

That seems to settle the matter. Great video I remember wondering what happened. This is similar to the German pilot that flew into a mountainside with a full plane.

Man that’s crazy how they blamed human error for a design flaw and if it wasn’t for the Campbells this could’ve happened again, crazy they would risk more lives rather than take accountability and fix their error

I could not imagine being the only person (conscious) battling to get a burning aircraft back to the airport. The FO fought like heck to save himself and his coworker. I am glad that at least he wasn't completely alone in his final moments as another aircraft was trying to help. 😢❤
