I can actually answer that because they've talked about it on their blog- they travel super cheap. Like, they buy the absolutely cheapest tickets they can get, even if it means traveling vaguely uncomfortably, and they've learned to do without. As in, they don't stay at hotels- they stay outside in sleeping bags, they stay on hammocks, they stay with friends/fans, they scout out the areas to figure out where they can eat super cheap, they pack only a limited amount of clothes/necessities (so there's no checked luggage), and they basically just deal with the fact that, say, they might smell a bit after staying outside and running around for 2-3 days without a proper shower. storror.com/blogs/news/42735748-supertramps-thailand-q-a They talk about it here.
