Hello, friends! I hope you've had a wonderful week. People have been asking what made me decide to have a KZbin channel? And the truth is ... KZbin was the farthest thing from my mind. But I began a personal project in 2020 that absolutely changed my life for the good and helped me overcome a depression ... and it also started me down a pathway that led to making videos for this channel.
I hope you enjoy the story : ) And I hope you enjoy the BEAUTIFUL scene I stumbled across the other day here in the Hudson Valley that I share at the end of the video. It made me SO happy.

Someone once said to me, "You would NEVER talk about others the way you talk about yourself. You are my friend and I would ask you to stop being mean to my friend. " That changed my life. I got to lovingly say the same thing to my mother. What a gift. Also, that huge flock of starlings was INCREDIBLE. When you said you were going to get pooped on, but it was so beautiful....I thought, what a metaphor for life haha

That truly is pretty great advice about the way we talk to ourselves! Then a super insightful metaphor… they were absolutely extraordinary to see and shows the value of not being “stuck in our ways”. The timing of this video couldn't be more perfect. I lost my beloved dog the day after Christmas and have been feeling so lost and down ever since. I've enjoyed your channel for months, but this episode, talking about how you worked through your depression, has given me hope to look ahead to better days. What a gift to see all those birds at just that moment. It's a reminder to me that nature has always been a balm and a respite for me and today I will push myself out of the house and go get some fresh air and appreciation for what I still have. I will turn 60 this year and never had children, but I think I'm going to make you my honorary daughter. You are so special!

I absolutely love everything about you. You are just gorgeous and beautiful inside and out. Your taste in home decor and your clothes are just perfect. I am at the stage of my home where I can now collect and thrift the fun stuff. It took two years to get this place plastered and painted etc. it was built in 1900 and belonged to my parents, but they weren’t into any kind of creativity. It was just a place to live. Now that it’s mine I have lots of beautiful plans. And you are my inspiration for a lot of ideas. I just wish your videos were longer. Have a beautiful weekend. Love the birds 🦅

You have a natural gift. You welcome the world around you. You open your arms, and that is why you have those of us here with you. Your joy and overwhelming sensitivity and excitement about nature is what captivates us. Your pure love of the world around you is contagious. Seeing you, capturing the birds in the sky was just enthralling. I cried. Nature is so special, and, so many never take a moment to just absorb it. You are a very special individual. I am sorry you ever have/had self image problems. It is wonderful that you are embracing that, and working on seeing who we see when we watch you. I was once told to take a photo of myself every day. Do not skip a day. And, after taking the photo, engage with it, and tell yourself one wonderful thing you see. It is very difficult, at first, but, as the days and weeks go by, it gets easier. This person told me to really look at the photo, and, after I found one positive thing, I could delete. The interesting part was, after awhile, I did not delete. I hope, someday, you do not delete. You need to see what we see. I think, you may finally be there. I wish you all good things. Your videos are inspiring. You may be doing this to self heal, but, for the rest of us, you are healing us as well. Thank you.

Kate, something beautiful came out of your time of trials, isn't that how it usually is?! The swarm of birds was magnificent but I have to tell you the hummingbirds were the best for me, I live in South Florida and have one biddy little hummingbird that visits my feeder every day and that is such a big deal to me but you have a bunch of them! I have been watching your videos for encouragement that I too will EVENTUALLY get to my peace and my tiny little cabin in the Adirondack mountains soon. My husband passed away in Sept 23, after 40 years of marriage,leaving me in utter financial ruin. This caused me to move in with my daughter to get my feet under me. I to, decorate like you, dress like you, and think so similar. Once I get my debt down I will be able to move to my tiny cabin and begin to LIVE AGAIN. But at the moment I’m in a limbo of hurt and sorrow. In the meantime,I am enjoying life through YOU. I understand the need to connect with the earth, to center myself, to heal. I wander through the little towns in NY. (when I can be there) thrifting and dreaming. I hope to someday just hug you for being vulnerable because I can draw courage to touch my pain watching you touch yours. You are healing, so I know I will eventually too. Thank you… for so many little things, like the little string of mushrooms you made, for showing me how to be ALONE but happy. Thank you for exposing yourself for me. You are a blessing to me. It’s not quite a year late and Jean, I really hope your hurt and sorrow have faded a little bit. I pray you will soon have your little cabin in the Adirondack mountains. I wish so much I could live somewhere in upstate NY, to experience the beautiful changing of seasons, especially Fall and Winter… oh but the flowers in spring, flowers always make me smile and you have such glorious flowers there…. but I live in Brisbane Australia where it never really gets cold.

Wonderful video! I assume geese? The choice of music 🎶 with the video of birds in flight is amazing. We live in a world of perceived beauty. I will take your beautiful face and body any day over the wonen who sadly succumb to looking like plastic. Charlie is a cutie. I am looking forward to spring and your garden. You are a very lucky lady! What a joy to experience such a wonderful spectacle! I believe the smaller black birds where starling and the random flight patterns are called murmurations. Thank you for the info! I don't know much about birds ... but I LOVE seeing the flight patterns. And now I know what they're called! It felt extra special because even though I know so little about birds, I did find it very interesting that the two types of birds were in the same field! It's a very large field on a farm and they were keeping to separate sides of the field ... but I wouldn't have thought they'd want to hang around each other each in such large numbers. Wow, I loved hearing the joy in your voice when you were filming the birds! They were beautiful. Out here we have these green parrots that fly in circular patterns. Seeing their gorgeous green wings and hearing them is absolutely breathtaking! I am glad you got to enjoy the birds.

I live in southwest Michigan. Birds of all kinds do this in the fall. We say they are practicing for their migration travel. Some flocks fly south and others head north.
