Brother, I see your passion and sincerity towards learning hadith. Learning in Yemen with Sh. Muqbil is one of the evidence. . Please someday (sooner or later) you will remember this words, Insha Allah. Learning hadith with the mashayikh in Western Yemen and Madinah without knowing other places (center of hadith chains of narrations and mashayikh), is like you live in London and only told that the soccer club is Crystal Palace, without knowing Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham etc. I pray to Allah that you will challenge yourself to look further into the sources of hadith-learning. Check which schools that have been the centers of hadith along the 14 centuries of Islam. Ahlul hadith are found in from Maghrib/Marocco (al Ghumary family), Mauritania (Sh. Muhammad Dedew/Didu al Shinqithi), Eastern Yemen/ Hadramaut, India subcontinent, Shams (Damascus etc) and, surely, Azhar. I am aware of how most Mashayikh in Madinah-Mecca University see the places I mentioned. But, believe me, Brother. You will revisit your current thinking and grow deeper in hadith in particular and religion in general. . I am not trying to belittle anyone, just worth to mention. Although Saudi universities are mostly very passionate and creative in todays Daawah back home, you will need to vividly review how the Saudi universities graduates compared with graduates of traditional madrasahs in many muslim majority countries with more established madrasahs. Feel free to compare to Azhar, Damascus, or even rural madrasahs in Indonesia. They study islam since very early, and most of their curriculum are more thorough with mastery learning approach rather than semester-based of modern universities have. . May Allah Make you a solid scholar of Islam in the US. Would be so proud to have many wonderful local scholars in the US.
