if people dont want thier children to marry people of other cultures, they shouldnt live in a multicultural society and expose them to the possibililty of them wanting or liking someone who is not from their cultural background. You cant forbid your children from human nature and what Allah has made permissible for them. Allah is the the one who brings two hearts together for the sake of marriage. If you reject or prevent purely on the basis of race/culture, and you over look the aspect of deen and character then your not following the sunnah because ahadith clearly emphasise deen and character over everything. Personal preferences should be respected but they are for an individual themselves, and not to be implement on others. Allah knows best

Subhana Allaah...this is very close to my situation. My husband and I have totally different cultures but I have embraced his culture to large degree and he also...but what binds our marriage after 30 years...is our love for Allaah and Islaam. That is what we have in common and it is the most important aspect to our marriage. Whether his family or mine accept me or him...they will have to .... if they love us....because in the end our decisions are based on Quraan and sunnah and the fee issues that are not covered by it...then we compromise with each other. So we eat his cultural food 1 day and then mine the next and we keep it moving. Deen is more important than culture...period! If you caught up in culture...you may also be nationalistic and that is not allowed in Islaam. We are 1 ummah...and we will never move forward as an ummah until we leave hisbiyah behind.

Very balanced view, if you watch this, then watch till the end. He goes over the pros and cons of both, and says that sometimes the father is right, so don't rush in removing him as a Wali. But sometimes the man is good, and compatible, and the father is racist or ignorant.

This was my issue, I wish I could have been judged fairly not just off my ethnicity, the woman I wanted to marry, her brothers and her father she was afraid of what they would do... she had 0 control and wasn't even allowed to voice her opinion and I of course could not interfere.

Some of us have no choice, but to marry outside our own culture/ethnicity and then we bump into all these racists among Muslims who forbid their children from marrying us, cause drama and forbid which is halal, this really must go! I've been turned down marriage twice just because I come from Europe and potential husbands couldn't convince their families to accept that, you can't help, but feel less of a human or even Muslim in situations like those, unfortunately.

How can a Muslim genuinely get rid of racism and racist thoughts in his heart and mind?
@TawheedFirst1
@TawheedFirst1 5 жыл бұрын
................... First of all Allah has ability over all things so the one with racism in his heart should turn to Allah asking him to rectify his heart then when it comes to taking the means I have seen racism normally come from two angles, 1 is ignorance regarding the people that they hate because the one who is racist has not mixed with the group they hate and may also have been conditioned to hate them by only being told lies about them or by only mixing with very few people from them who then represented the group badly then my advice is first to be objective and not let a few people represent a group and second to meet practising people from the group that one hates with an open mind, be patient and sincere to Allah and the person will grow to love them in sha Allah. The second reason for racism is normally arrogance and nationalism which makes people think they are the best because of where they were born or the colour they were born into and this is a sickness that does not belong in Islam, Islam made every race and every nationality equal and what will raise our status is our relationship with Allah not our skin or country and it is important for the brother then to focus on the true purpose of our life which is to worship Allah and strive for jannat this is what will make us better than someone and the knowledge of that will come in the hereafter.

But the Sheikh cannot and won't disagree with the benefit's in marrying within your own culture or similar languages etc. There is nothing wrong with marrying out of your culture or creed but without shadow of a doubt the benefits in marrying within your own culture and language etc out ways the opposite action by far. The Shiehk covers all angles and explains all this very well.

@@sajid6027 Biggest issue with practicing Muslims of today, they keep going back and comparing today to then. Tbh I could not even think to compare now to then. You would need to have so much data. Lauguages, cultures, stereotypes or other barriers between individuals which we have today. The topic has so many different view points, after all conversation, debates and arguments you look at the pros v cons and the truth within that gives you the best answer. It's all common sense at the end of the day imo.

@@end-game2030 the sunnah is clear. This was a stupid question. When the first Muslim's arrived in China to do dawah imagine if they were this insular. How would Islam have prospered in China or indeed anywhere. Culture is man made. Deen is divine.

@@sajid6027 Unfortunately we need to see things for what they are first and then let the divine show its power. If we seek divinity from the get go (which many do) we are unpleasantly suprised most of the times when things go wrong resulting in many falling further away from Islam. The advice then is "have faith" or it was "ghadder", really? God has given us brains, we should use them to the potential they were designed for and stop passing the buck on to others for answers. Especially to the moments in history when Islam and its iman was at its absolute peak. Your not wrong in what your saying but you remind of comparing fairy tale endings to real face value problems.

@@icelolly4277 LMAO, 🤣🤣🤣 AL HAMDULILLAH I'm feeling great, thanks for your concern. Truth of the matter is, this is exactl thing El Hajj Malik El Shabazz (Malcolm X) was talking about in his book, when you look up white in the dictionary it's only associated with good things like purity, look up black, it's only associated with bad things like darkness and evil. Its subliminal psychological conditioning and it's real. People try hard to disassociate themselves with being black because it's perceived as something negative, and isn't that what Mufti was talking about in the first place, the perception of something negative because of it's association to black skin. It starts with with subliminal conditioning, "fair skin" is white or white like, so naturally it's opposite is black, which subliminally implies unfair. Look at the word fair, its spelled f a I r, look that same spelling up in the dictionary and it means = just, equitable, without cheating, and the term "fair skin" uses the same spelling, sooooo🤷🏿‍♂️ Not trying to pick, trying to shed light. I'm an African American Muslim, AL HAMDULILLAH, I know that people automatically look at me with disdain because of my skin, then they find out I'm Muslim and become concerned about radicalism 🤨. Solely based off of those 2 things, nothing I've said, or done, just "he's a black Muslim" he must hate white people, he must be a terrorist, etc..

This is a big problem around the world especially in high Muslim population areas. Zina is made easy and marriage difficult. I respect him for admitting some of the scholars said this and this institutionalized and justified. The funny thing is look at the prophet salallahu alayhi wa salaam and the Sahaba did. I think the race and political aspects of compatibility will only be applicable if they affect on attraction and connection. As a canadian Pakistani in Toronto, I admit that the girls I found crushes on during school were Pakistani and a persian in my school, but also grew up in the GTA, I assume I'd pobably connect better with a muslim child of immigrants from different culture than a Pakistani who is immigrating straight from pakistan as an adult. Religion and personality are more important, as long as there is attraction and they can get along. If there's attraction and they work well together is more important than genes. In canada, there's more connection to people from othe cultures who have grown up in the GTA than to a pakistani who grew up in Pakistan, but a pakistani who grew up here has a few more things to connect over, but RELIGION and PERSONALITY are much bigger factors.

@KhayriA100

The benefits of marrying within your people outweigh the benefits of marrying outside. Most of our parents don't speak English and want in-laws that speak their language and grandchildren that they can relate to. In the case of family problems, it's million times easier to resolve with people who have same cultural background/values since we dony have islamic courts to resolve issues. In the future, relocation to a Muslim land will me much easier etc. It's not a simple race issue. I refused to marry a girl from my own people because she was born and raised in America and far different from us in culture, language, and values. She was technically our race but an American culturally and language wise. Wallahu A3lam

Comparatively, lineage among non-Arabs is to be paid attention to just as it is with Arabs. As a shafi'i i'd rather follow my madhab and instead of self made mujtahids in 2020. It depends on the situation. If the families are okay with it that alone removes a huge source of friction, and if it's common or socially acceptable where you are then it's not a big deal. Also depends on the specific ethnicities and cultures being mixed, or how far apart the skin tones are. All sorts of factors affect how it goes. So the problem here is the mixing male/female that brings issues in the future. Not the race. To remove your father as a wali you need to go to a Muslim Court. Maybe in Saudi Arabia. But elsewhere there's no such thing. If she tries to remove her father as a wali she will lose her whole family.. So there's a balance. The issue here is not the race but the mixing male/female (outside the Muslim lands or on the Muslim lands that follow the dunya) and the so-called LOVE defined by the western world. It hurts the Muslim world and the rest of the world in general. In the name of LOVE we allow same-sex love, interracial love, interfaith love etc. I agree with Mufti on many points. But we couldn't push people into fitna with their families by ignoring their fiqh Schools. Even if the hadith is weak. There's more behind the scenes brother....Anyway. It's complicated because even if the guy can provide food on the table for both how families from both sides will deal with the differences. I don't think that mixing will make you richer or better than any other countries. This is stupid to say that Mufti. Sorry for the harsh words. But sometimes a weak hadith for some is strong for others.... And ALLAH Azzawajal knows the best.
