This is a nice song, maybe a bit sad, because I lost my dad 15 years ago, and my mother almost 3 years ago. It appears to be a reminder to cherish all time with your family while they're with you. I'd say 4 beers 🍺🍺🍺🍺. One Direction also has a catchy tune "Beautiful". Which might sound a bit like the Cars, especially rhythm guitar and drums.

Definitely agree with you. I didn't know who they were before this song came out but when I heard it on the radio and just loved it. Learned it was by One Direction and found the music video and then I fell in love. The rest is history as they say. This is still my fav song by them but they have a lot of songs I love. And then there is their solo music. Great lads. That's for sure.

I've been having a senior moment thinking this song title was familiar, but didn't recognise it as a One Direction song. The answer is that British singer Christian Leontiou released a different song called 'Story Of My Life' in 2004, and followed it up with an even better one called 'Shining' in the same year. Both highly recommended.

Hi ladies, nice to see you again. Having never in my life actually been a teenage girl myself, I can't honestly see the point of 'boy bands' - they're just a waste of space as far as I'm concerned, but they can do some interesting things if they stick around long enough to actually grow up, so I see this song as a more grown-up offering than I would have expected from Une Direction! Half a glass from me on this one. The same thing happened with Take That - another band of scruffy teenaged nerf-herders from the UK back in the '90s, but in 2006 they came out with 'Patience', which I really liked and would recommend to you. Former Take That member Robbie Williams had long since departed for a solo career, and not only does he share my interest in UFOs, but I actually like half of his songs as well. Why half? - I don't know - he has a songwriting partner in Guy Chambers, so it may be like a Lennon/McCartney thing with the credits, and I just preferred John's songs to Paul's. From Robbie Williams, I particularly recommend 'Feel' from 2002, actually one of my all-time favourite songs. It's been pouring with rain in the UK today, but I hope you're having a better one!

I think that's a good point that you're making, Dave, regarding the point at which a band matures. If a musical entity keeps after it, with effort and consistency, then they can hit a point of development, leaving that old style behind

@@brianb6024 - a lot of these 'boy bands' are manufactured entities and are very much the creature of their producers, in this case Simon Cowell and his Syco record company, who rely on the band member's youthful sex appeal (can I use the word 'appeal' on KZbin? Is that allowed?) to bring in the spondoolies from the target demographic. But, if they survive long enough, they can mature into something that becomes more of their own creation.
