P.S.: if you are going to do another harry video, do the howard stern interview. You hit the nail on the head, Louis really does always make an effort to make his fans feel like we're on the same level as him, that he truly cares about every one of us individually and he wants to make sure we are always heard and noticed and that we know he loves us. Whether it's in interviews, on twitter, in his concerts. Even fans who have met him always say he makes them feel so comfortable and loved. That's why you'll hear a lot of fans say that Louis is their home (a reference to a song he wrote called Home). We love Louis so much.

Loius is one of the celebrities that doesnt feel like a celebrity. He enjoys being himself and he is confident where he came from. You cant see him go out with other celebs. He knows and loves to keep his authentic self despite his celebrity status. I mean he is still in touch and would rather go out and goof around with his childhood friends than be fake friends with other celebs. He doesnt need those bs. His normal life is different from his work and Im proud that he was able to keep that identity of himself. I mean his gf is just a normal girl not actually a celeb, his close and best friends are friends from his childhood. As he said, he never imagined that he will write songs for himself as he always thought that his songs and lyrics will be sang by other people. It just so happens that he is a very talented person and has a very relatable way of expressing emotions thru his lyrics. So Im happy that he still chose to write and sing coz I get to enjoy his music and relate to his songs.

Yesss he’s laidback but also very playful and sassy!! He loves to joke around with fans, we’re basically like a big group of best friends lol, even if most of us have never met him. You just feel like you’ve known him forever, it’s so easy and comforting talking to him, and I’ve heard he gives the best hugs (which he calls cuddles, how precious is that?!) so that’s a bonus! He truly is so so lovely and down-to-earth. A genuinely caring and honest guy who loves what he does and treats everyone around him like family and friends. He had/has the best relationship with the boys in 1D, everyone adores him, and has the absolute best relationship with his fans. He’s also a family guy, he still has that same group of childhood friends who he still hangs around with, despite meeting lots of hollywood people, you just feel like he never forgot his roots, you know? And his sisters always talk about how he talks to them every day. He hasn’t had the easiest life, he lost a lot of people including his mother and one of his sisters (that in addition to a father who left after he was born), and him being the oldest out of 7 children, he had to take a lot of the responsibility and help raise his siblings. No matter how much I write about Louis and try to describe how big his heart is, I don’t think I can ever. He’s there for everyone, whether he knows them personally or not, if they’re family or complete strangers, he just CARES and LOVES. Such a nice amazing guy, I wish him all the happiness in the world, God knows he’s the reason a lot of us are still going on. Bless him..

The 1D-Version of Louis still impresses me by how he was able to shield his and his bandmates' sanity by sucking the (pretence of) seriousness out of those interview questions that were properly insane to begin with.

You know, the thing about Louis is that he's just so very genuine. He expresses what he thinks and feels with as few filters as possible. He doesn't treat his fans like strangers. To me it's almost like acknowledging that we, his fans, don't really think of him as a stranger either. Watching interviews of him throughout the years, watching him on stage and on the street and hearing him in songs, it's somehow safe to say that, to some degree, we know Louis Tomlinson. We know he's sassy and sarcastic, we know he's caring and supportive, and it'd be a bit off-balance if we treated him as we knew him and he treated us like we don't know him. He's also very much a people-person, as you can see his character shining more when he has someone to interact with directly (an element amiss in the other interview and very much present here), and he feels more comfortable there, where he can show himself more freely. He's also (as you mentioned a few times) very playful. A characteristic known about him since his 1D days, Louis is known to be the prankster, the joker, and he's very well known for somewhat 'taking the piss'. He's extra playful with the other band members, considering he's much more comfortable with them (I'd love it if I could have your reaction to him interacting with the 1D boys, especially Liam. God, Louis loved to mess with Liam). He likes to make people feel comfortable enough to smile and laugh, he wants them to feel like he's their friend, not some star, and he finds humor the key to it all. Yes, his attitude might be seen as lashing out towards someone who doesn't know him, but after the first few times, you just get the gist that he's not pissed, he's not mad or upset, he just likes to joke around that way. For me, an almost sarcastic person myself, his character was absolutely endearing. But I see how someone can see it differently. He's also a 'take it or leave it' sort of person, so. That probably helps. He's also a very good conversationalist, seeing as he's a bit bold and doesn't shy away much from the attention (he never really was very shy, considering he wanted to have acting or singing as a profession since he was young, and he's very outspoken, although according to Liam he's camera-shy, and he does perhaps shy away from any attention he can avoid, but other than that, he's that type of person to just have the attention of a room on himself and be comfortable in it), and perhaps years of being under spotlight and doing interviews have helped with that. He knows how to carry out a conversation in a way to keep the other party and anyone listening interested, which in turn makes him look more approachable. Thank you so much for this! Great analysis! I'm glad you took time and watched another interview of him to inspect his character carefully and as much as possible, I really enjoyed watching you analyze him. He's a very interesting person, and I'm so glad I had the chance to watch you inspect him that much more.

I definitely support you reacting to more interviews like this one, with an actual interviewer and audience, it’s way more fun and genuine than if it’s an interview where the artist is just talking to the camera. You can’t really learn a lot about an artist if they’re just.. interacting with a camera, you know? And Louis is the type of artist who absolutely adores his fans and loves to get them involved, so you see a lot more of his personality when people are around I think. And it’s more fun, having interactions instead of just interviews where he’s just answering questions to the camera.

I usually pay attention how good he expresses himself and how passionate he sounds when he's talking about something he's interested in. (like songwriting of amy winehouse and alex turner in this interview) So many fans who met louis personally say he listened them with an attention that no one else did before and made them comfortable instantly. I think that might come from growing up in a house full of women, for me that explains why he's so caring and good at making us feel comfortable. I feel adoration and love of a mother in there. Purely a hypothesis! I actually feel Louis (at this point in life) is quite reserved and the relaxed demeanor is learned. Like the way experienced performers learn how to seem relaxed (and that actually does make them relaxed for real - the body can be tricked to relaxe). He's very aware/alert of his surroundings and super conscientious what he reveals about himself, what he says and acts. He's very much in control of himself. I feel he doesn't really like interviews but tries to enjoy them and does like interacting with people. Like he doesn't like them because he has to put on a bit of a "role" and be cautious - he'd probably enjoy them if he felt he could totally be himself. Although it would annoy anyone telling the same things over and over again. And this is his job and that's the way he treats it. I believe his "true" personality isn't quite AS friendly, soft and mellowtempered and that comes out as those sarcastic remarks etc. Not saying this in a mean way nor that he is mean in reality! He genuinely wants to be friendly and nice (and is) and not make his fans feel bad or be disappointed. It's just that he also knows all he needs to do is loose his temper even a little bit or say something stupid or make a silly gesture and it's all over the internet. It's quite unfair - being famous is not all that great. And I think he resents that somewhat - for a good reason. Celebrities are required to be calm as cows no matter how many paparazzo push you about and act rude as hell. I think he's a fast paced, spontaneous and quicktempered personality, but slows himself down to be in control. I think he's a weird mix of being shy and super outgoing, I think he's comfortable with himself and seems confident but does have insecurities. I think while he loves to have a laugh and make other people laugh and is quite cheerful (which he hides nowadays by keeping his tempers in control), he might be a pessimistic soul and a brooder/worrier. When he was young he was an attention seeker and his behind the role of the "clown" to be liked and accepted. Nowadays he wants to appear cool, more serious. I think he continues to hide his personality behind a chosen role. That might actually be wise to do that for his public persona - and hopefully be free and relaxed privately. Probably his "real" personality is something between his teen self and today self. He is definitely a very multifaceted and complex person.

I remember watching one direction interviews for the first time and being lost in Louis. Like I just wanted to look at him and just listen to him. He's always been so sassy. And you said that you wonder if people who don't know him ever get offended when he's being sassy. It didn't happen with me. His sassiness made me love him even more because even though he's savage he's never disrespectful.
