All the Superman incarnations have their merits, in my opinion. Christopher Reeve will always be THE Superman, Dean Cain was the most romantic & human Clark Kent & played a great Superman too. Tom Welling played a brilliant young Clark Kent for 10 years & his journey to become Superman was epic. He grew immensely as an actor, too. I enjoyed Superman Returns & I liked Brandon Routh's performance, the whole movie was a nice tribute to Reeve...

Christopher Reeve's Superman films, Lois & Clark, Superman The Animated Series (sometimes referred as The New Batman/Superman Adventures), Justice League, Justice League Unlimited and Smallville are all my favorite interpretations of Superman. I even enjoyed all the DC Universe Animated films that feature Superman. Oh I can't wait to see the Man of Steel that's being produced and directed by Christopher Nolan (the one brought us Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and now TDKR) and Zack Snyder.

@TheChiefExecutioner Actually, it wasn't a mistake. It was only a spin-off from the comic ideas. They wanted Superman to be more realistic; he'd need multiple costumes in order to compensate for wearing the same costume beneath his clothing to work every single day. The "aura" that Superman's body creates protected the skin-tight fabric, though there is a small flaw with this that many overlook which I won't mention. Also, this aura could also explain the telekinetic field he uses for flight.

Lol. Same here. Even Superman The Animated Series that aired on Kids WB in 1997 (the same year that Lois & Clark ended). However I poorly remember seeing a little bit of the Adventures of Superboy that aired before Lois & Clark. I think Dean Cain, Christopher Reeve, Tim Daly (the voice of animated Superman), George Newbern (the second voice of animated Superman) and Tom Welling are all amazing. Oh I can't wait to see how good Henry Cavill is as Clark Kent/Superman in the Man of Steel.

I vote for Dean Cain as the best Superman actor, however, I'm largely influenced by him because his show was what I grew up on in the '90s as a child, and I have to admit, I still love his series, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.

Smallville was a great show, it was the one that introduced me to the whole Superman thing. I don't get the hate for Superman Returns either. It was a great movie! Kate Bosworth may not have been a brilliant choice for Lois Lane but she was still OK!

Who's to say Spacey and Bosworth would've been in Returns without Singer. After all, the only reason Spacey was cast as Lex was because he'd worked with Singer before and they were close friends. Also, Spacey recommended Bosworth so I think without Singer, they probably would've got two other actors to play those two.

nice video. I think it will be cool you know, in a 1000 years whatever, kids will learn about Superman in history class the same way kids today learn about Hercules. Superman, the Batman, Spiderman... they are the myths of the modern age no different from Ulysses, Hercules and Perseus in the classical Greek myths. One day perhaps, the Death of Superman will be considered to be as historically important as the Odyssey.

Oh dear Brandon Routh. How I pity thee. Young, inexperienced actor thrown into a production where the greatest superhero of all time had an illegitimate child, got the crap beaten out of him by humans, didn't throw a single punch and was featured in a story that showed the director/producer/writer's fixation on the original Superman movie, dark themes and splurging a ridiculous amount of money on set pieces. Oh well. Roll on June 14, 2013.

Henry Cavill was great & whilst I didn't love Man of Steel (it had some flaws I couldn't really oversee), I still enjoyed it for what it was. See, I can accept them all for what they are/were. I love the first two movies with Reeve, (haven't seen the 3rd or 4th movies yet) I love Lois & Clark, Dean & Teri had the most amazing chemistry ever & the romance between Lois and Clark on that show was beautiful. Teri was an awesome Lois.

I met Cain at Comic Con in SLC. He was uniquely Superman, but not very tall. Nice guy, but the best Superman will always be Christopher Reeve. Followed by Henry Cavill, then Cain, Routh and Welling. Although they should of had Welling in the suit for another season and rename the series "Metropolis."

LOL Christopher Reeves & Dean Cain are the 2 best Supermen so far. Chris Reeves may be considered the quintessential & the best film Superman, but Dean Cain was the most romantic & charming Superman by far. I'm a female, and that's why I prefer Dean Cain. Lois & Clark was about the romantic relationship between Superman & Lois Lane, and Dean & Teri were completely convincing in their roles. Please, no one bought that romance between Chris Reeves & fugly Margot Kidder. lol Margot was too ugly.

Dean Cain & Teri Hatcher were so hot & sexy together, but I would've preferred to see Dean's real life girlfriend while he was at Princeton in the role of Lois. Dean & Brooke have even more chemistry between them than Dean & Teri. I didn't see the same romantic, hot, sexy chemistry between Chris Reeves & Margot Kidder, sorry, but then again, the series "Lois & Clarke" was intended from the start to focus on the romantic relationship between Lois & Clark, & not on Superman alone.

Christopher Reeves was the best movie Superman, and Dean Cain was by far the best tv series Superman. Tom Wellings played Superboy, not Superman, and Wellings couldn't act his way out of paper bag. Brandon Routh is an ok actor, but he and his Superman movie bombed at the box office. So he gets a thumbs down. Wellings was Superboy, not Superman, and he and that teenage, cheesefest of a tv series sucked. Wellings is the worst Super everything...boy, girl, or man.

The problem with Brandon Routh was his acting. It definitely didn't receive 5 stars. He's most likely the reason that this time around they chose a true actor in Henry Cahill to play Superman. Brandon Routh & that Superman movie bombed at the box office. You must be only person that considers Routh to be a 5 star Superman. He wasn't.
