Let me tell you something baby girl. That's the move right there. I was 12 when I learned to do my own hair. I started with french braids and by the time I turned 24 I was sewing my own weaves in. I had doing hair as a side job in school to make money and even after I got out of school I made money doing hair. I have children now and I can do their hair anyway they want it. I've only sat in the beauty shop once to get my hair done and I hated it😂. Do you girlie. I didn't have KZbin at 12 we still had AOL dial up😂 but learn everything you can

@@djnkazget sunscreen meant for hair. I have hair like this little girl, and it can run on the oily side ,it's easy to add to much moisture. At the drugstore I have been buying a small bottle of SunBum Scalp and Hair Mist SPF 30. It is fantastic for dyed hair as well, keeps the sun from messing with the color. Random fact: I had to buy puppy SPF. I am lucky to tan but my pupper..her starting color is pinkish white ,with white hair. Very little protection. Of course she loves cooking herself outside too!(dogs are allergic to zinc so be careful it's made for them!)

Also if it risks messing the the braid she can put it on her hands and then carefully apply it around the braids
@missangelbabyoneandonly3898
@missangelbabyoneandonly3898 Жыл бұрын
@@agereartist3763NO, she definitely shouldn't apply sunscreen to the braids at all. Hair doesn't burn, fair skin is what burns. (Well, hair can burn if it is caught on fire, with fire or with hair iron tools. Hair tools can singe/melt hair.- I'm referring to the sun, not any heating tools or fire. - I thought I'd make that perfecly clear, before some dumb-dumb chimes in.) If she puts sunscreen in her hair, it will get oily, start to collect dirt, debris & possibly bugs. Her hair will also probably start to stink when she starts sweating & the sweat mixes with the sunscreen. What she needs to do is put sunscreen on either her finger, the pic side of the comb, or even a chopstick, then rub the sunscreen directly on/to the exposed skin, in between the braids. 😊 *I cut, color & style hair.. I also do extensions & weaves. (I will ONLY do sew-ins on people who know how to properly take care of them. - I've seen some pretty nasty / disgusting ish on a few people's heads. People always try to blame the hair dresser for the things THEY were suppose to & should have been taking care of, themselves.) Anyway, I've seen so many fair skinned people who looked like they had an onset of psoriasis, because their scalp had been sunburned so bad. Once it started to peel, it would start to itch their head, they would scratch it & their hair would be riddled with dead skin... "the snow effect" - Little kid joke. Hope this helps!!

Remember y’all, black people can still get sunburnt! It’s definitely a lot less likely but it still happens. Make sure to always wear sunscreen when going outside for long periods! (Even in the winter, the sun burns you, not the heat) Protecting your skin from the sun reduces spots and wrinkles when you’re older. Also, they make sunscreen specifically for black people so you don’t look ashy. Hope this helps! ❤

believe it or not situations can have nuance. this little girl getting braids is harmless. kim k putting on blackness like an accessory is harmful. braids have cultural significance, they're not just something a white girl can use to gain social capital then ditch when the trend dies out. they are however something that can be appreciated across cultures and races, which is what this girl is doing.

When I was 8 I got my hair braided in Mexico and got a sunburn. I’ve always had anxiety and it turned into a picking/pulling issue for decades. I’m 33 years old and my head has never healed (I still do it-getting better) but if this happens to your child, please take care and watch it!

Hm that is very untrue every culture has their own style of braids though the braids we do has deep meaning and so do other cultures braids but I feel as though most poc dislike non black people getting certain types of braids esp braids that come directly from our culture because they usually benefit it when we’re still stuck being discriminated which yea it can make people stuck in that mindset and what they said was a bit ignorant considering again we aren’t the only culture that has it but you also have to think of why they feel that way but in this context it seems like their trying to limit braids to only us but honestly anyone can get them with our braids though as long as there isn’t any appropriation it’s A okay with me

@@Miraculousladynoir24 I’m sure though our example of braids, dreads, locs, twists etc are different than theirs like braids in our culture told a story braids were also a way to reclaim our identity or what not you can learn a lot of these things on news articles, blogs or even in african american museums or just museums in general but anywho we all have our own unique hair styles at the end of the day though it’s nice to share cultures with one another as long as there isn’t any cultural appropriation happening or harm using it as a straight up benefit or what not personally me I stick within things in my culture because I mean it was meant for me and I prefer it

Yup had my hair braided in Miami when I was 21(35 now). I always tan easy so thought nothing of it. It was BAD. My face and arms see sun all year round..parts of my scalp never had before that day..I went a decade before trying that again. I had started buying SPF meant for hair to protect the color I was using for most my 20s(various reds). Normal skin SPF, especially with hair similar to this little girl..makes an oily greasy head in a few hours! I like SunBum Scalp and Hair Mist (spf30) Something new for me! I have a pittie pup, pinkish white skin ,white hair..she sun burns! Had to buy dog specific SPF (they are allergic to zinc!). Though after the one day of getting a burn she learned to take shade breaks!❤ I answered this in part in another comment but wanted to share hair SPF tip for all to see in celebration of you accepting a tip for the first time❤❤❤

Instead of being scared do some self-reflection. This hairstyle you had as a kid was worn by black kids your age because it was part of their culture. For you to be afraid of your race shows you don't have an understanding that people have cultures and they aren't something you can just opt out of
@Empress_CODM

@@bandaqueenlove9134 Now this right here is why white people are scared. Braids arent only from black culture but from white culture too. Gatekeeping this stuff isnt healthy at all. If you think its “culture appropriation” tell that to the people in africa and they’ll tell you exactly why it isnt
