When I was in high school my first “boyfriend” was DL. He was the most manipulative, verbally and emotionally abusive person on the planet. He would embarrass me in front of others, intentionally leave me out or ignore me or talk down to me. He acted like I annoyed him in every way and he was feminine but I just was in denial and made excuses. I finally dumped him bc I couldn’t understand why I was being treated that way. Eventually he came out. I’m glad I learned the lesson early on: if a man is feminine and showing red flags but also in a relationship with you and treating you like dirt for no reason, he’s probably repressed and taking it out on you. I never made that mistake again. Happily married for 16 years. I pray you find a man worth your time!

I don’t have a problem people being gay lesbian by or pansexual and transgender. But I’m sorry to hear about that, just because his sexuality. Doesn’t excuse him to be treating you like that, he shouldn’t take it out on other people like you. If he can’t be happy, honest and true to himself. He shouldn’t be dating somebody, because he’s scared of his own sexuality. I’m glad you’re happy and moving on.

This is EXACTLY how my ex was. Except he’s 45 and I’m 40. When I calmly asked him if he ever thought about sex with a man, he squeezed the air out of my lungs and I woke up in the hallway. To this day, I honestly have no idea what the hell that man is battling with.

I am with a man who I have felt very insecure with. Something my gut tells me is not to trust him and I have caught him checking out other men. He is 45, no kids, never been married and was not very experienced if you know what I mean…even his touch, it’s like he’s never touched a woman before. So I am paranoid and crazy for having these thoughts, according to him.

This is the thing, not many people care that you are gay. It’s when you manipulate straight people to be with you for a cover up is when it becomes a problem. This will get you hurt or killed in the black community. Be who you are, just leave us out of it. Glad you are out of that mess, blessings to you!

I don’t think this is the truth. I’ve seen Black men be killed, jumped, beaten, abandoned by their entire family &/or lose their job/career potential by choosing to be openly gay. Straight people care very much, it’s why rappers never discuss the missing Black women but constantly discuss Lil Nas X & every post he makes.

This just happened to me. Don’t think it doesn’t happen to white women. You will look back and see red flags. If he doesn’t pursue sex with you and wants a wardrobe that is more expensive than your’s, there is an issue. I noticed how my common law husband walked and he strutted. I think my ex is trans but I don’t know? Girl, it’s so scary and frustrating. My relationship lasted five years. I told my ex that it was ok for us to see other people, and he could live in our home. He still refused to tell me. Your ex’s best friend will never believe your ex was gay. It’s denial. This just happened to me and I don’t get it. These men will bad mouth us and talk sh@t about us, when we’re the supportive partners. I ran into the same problem. Every time I would tell him that I was talking to a male friend, he would go crazy. It makes us feel stupid and we’re not.

He started messaging me from a fake Facebook account with an attractive man on it.. weird .also most DL men are child molestors or sexually attracted to little boys. Be careful ladies please. Do your homework

I was married to a man who, whilst throwing old clothes out I found a love letter from his long term male lover of six years. He fell apart when I told him I found his love letter tucked in the back of a drawer.. he said he was bi. This was back in the early 90s when it wasn't as accepted to be gay. We ended our relationship a while after after I realised I was just a front. It took me ten years to fully get over the mistrust, and 17 years before we spoke again. It took him 3 failed hetero marriages to realise it wasn't for him and now is living his authentic life gay.

We want love, we want marriage, so it's hard to accept the signs. Not just the signs that a guy is gay, but also other signs of problems to come. The biggest one to me was when family and friends thought he might be suspect. The same thing happened to my best friend. That being said, I'm divorced because my husband had completely different issues. There were signs with my husband also. So we all could do a better job of accepting reality and being good with being single.

My dad died when I was 15 years old and when I went to the funeral on the friends side there wasn’t nothing but men.. I thought nothing of it but it was something that stayed in my mind. Come to find out later in my 30s the real reason behind my father’s death was AIDS and he was gay or bisexual idk because I never will be able to speak to him about it but I hurt so bad for my mom because she loved my dad so much she couldn’t even make her marriage work because she was still in love with my dad, breaks my heart to not ever know if he loved her too or if he was just a gay man using her to cover up his real heart! There is a rule of thumb that both me and my friends live by as it pertains to gay or DL men, “if we as women have to ever DOUBT a man’s sexual orientation (meaning not str8) then there is no reason to pursue anything further.” Every time me and my girls have had doubts about “str8” men who are gay or on the low we have been 100% right. This is simply off of DOUBT and DOUBT alone. Meaning we do not need to investigate or have evidence to substantiate that doubt. Our DOUBT alone will suffice and is more than enough!

I’m trying to b strong but I’m thinking I’m more in sick and in shocked that I was basically another cover( bc he does have another baby mama) for his denial of being D.L. But we literally was going to get married in 5 months, I’m graduating college and we were buying our first home in august. I happy that Ik this now rather then not filling my gut bc I could have caught anything and have it for the rest of my life or have to be treated but I literally just over came post and pre nental depression after giving him kids he wanted but later didn’t and now trying to be a better father/fiancé and now Ik why he was going through a lot of emotional anger and changes and confusion bc he got more than he wanted and not truly wanting to be “this” stuck with me and two kids but I’m leaving him rn as I type. Pray for me and my children (I even strongly know and feel my first child’s father gay or bi) he used to always try and do fight me pregnant with our kid and all for in and off and do drugs which I feel is a cover up. #dont date guys much older then u (who lie about their age major red flag) and #NEVER DATE IN ATL

You won't just claim Jesus bc you go to church and know the gospel. You will be IN love with Him more than you've ever loved any man on Earth. Your life will change for the better. Trust me. LONG BUT HOPEFULLY YOU READ IT. I hope my story also helps someone. My ex (when I was in my mid 20s) the first thing I saw was a text message. It was a link to a gay porn site. He said it was probably spam or something. I ignored it. As time went on my mom told me that my cousin told my dad that she believes my boyfriend at the time was gay. I was like “huh”? I’m like why didn’t she communicate to me about it? I’m the type of person if you tell me something I should watch out for, I’m going to investigate, I won’t get upset bc you told me. That means you’re watching out for me. Then while we were at a family gathering, my aunt had the nerve to say in front of everyone, “Yep so and so told me he was gay”. I’m like seriously? Wtf? You couldn’t talk to me in private? You had to say this in front of the entire family? Honestly my aunt had some nerve bc her husband was doing a lot of women in town and gave her chlamydia! Anyways, I did more searching, got into his Facebook. Then BAM! I saw messages between him and this guy who we actually went to high school with. Talking about “When are we going to meet again?” “You might want to get an AIDS test.” “I know you want this duck again.” There’s so much more. I confronted him about it. Yes he denied it saying his cousin or someone was using his Facebook. Like seriously?! Child bye. I found out about all of this information the day before my birthday. I will say this I always got checked for STDS/AIDS/HIV when I was with him, never caught anything. Let me tell you God watched out for me. Till this day (I’m in my 30s) no diseases. Even though this was a long time ago I’m still thankful I’m disease free bc some things pop up later. I’m highly blessed. He was cheating on me with men and women! To make it worse he was mentally and physically abusive and a stalker. God has completely covered me. It baffles me how someone could hurt someone by not only cheating but damn on the down low! All these diseases going on out here? Hell no! Be smart ladies.

I dodged a serious bullet. This church going guy knew I was single. He tried to connect me to his brother. He was very pushy. I wondered why. He gave me his brother numb.i initiated and said hi. It took him an hour to reply. .it was so dry .he didn't seemed interested in seeing how I look or anything. I started doing some digging and searching. His Facebook was him involved in the church and cracking jokes. Something told me to find his Instagram. Bam. He was following so many queer gay men in underwear.anf they were commenting on his Pic. He was living a double life. Thank God I dodged a bullet.whew

Here's a piece of loving advice from an OG especially to you millennials and gen z, y'all always say, "Don't judge me, " in which I find is counterintuitive because in real life we all need to be a good judge of one's character, and that will prevent you for placing yourselves in such deviant and deceptive situations.

Nah. I been through the same thing. Said that same thing. Said I’d support someone doing the same thing. But when someone replied and lied to me?? Then proceeded to put hands on me and my child mind you, I was going through breast cancer, surgery, and treatment. Mind you, I have always paid for everything, including his own three children who, he did not care to pay attention to; the least that MFA should have done was be honest, knowing he had support in his corner. The moment he did not? Ain’t nothing right about that. I am not responsible, nor is anybody for their insecurities, or what they feel they have to hide. At the same time, I am aware of these things, and if I bring them up; I am mentioning my support in the matter. If you go beyond that and do the absolute worst, anybody can think of? I’m sorry, people like that don’t deserve any sympathy. These are some narcissists, psycho/sociopathic dudes. Ain’t no space for that, Especially when they have had every opportunity to be honest upfront Ain’t no advice to give. A real man, straight or not with still be straight up with us. Because at the end of the day, their intention should not be to manipulate nor hurt a female who they wrapped up because of their insecurities, and, their manipulation tactics. I think the most important thing is for women in the situation to understand is, if all we hear his words, but see no action? Drop them. ASAP before it gets worse.

A month into our relationship I found out he was cheating on me and had been sexting/ FaceTiming multiple men on a dating app. He completely denied being bi/gay and I forgave him for it. Our relationship was filled with arguments about it until it ended 10 months later. After we broke up I found out he was back on the app doing the same thing he did when we were together. Needless to say he was lying and so deeply in denial he got me to believe all of that. Such a fcked up situation. To play and manipulate the person you claim to love like that…smh. GIRLLLLL. I was in a relationship with a dl guy took me 4 years to find out... I live in Atlanta soo its actually pretty common here... but When i found out .. EVERYTHING made since. I would just have flashblacks of certain conversations we had from the past. and Im like damnn it all makes sense now lol. Like he would workout ALLL the time and he was very attractive.. When i begin to get a little suspicious everything was freaking me out. I would always wonder why gay men would be sooo comfortable checking him and always eyeing him. They obviously knew something that I didnt LOL. He would always wear joggers to the gym that were tight fighting .. At first i didnt think anything of it b/c im like well some guys workout gear actually fits like his doess.. It showed all of his muscles through the joggers lol.. I had to tell him "Bae your pants are too tight we need to get you some more pants "... But things begin to get realll realll suspicious. I started paying attention to how he act around openly gay men and men in general and I was i was just shocked b/c im like damn theres a 50% chance that this man i've been with for all these years is on the DL. and coming to find out he was. No one else knows except for me ... None of his friends or anything. Im extremely observant so idk how it took me that long to discover that lol.

Whew. The comments on this video are WILD. Thank you queen for having the courage to share your experience publicly. I wish more women... especially black women would speak up about thier experiences dealing with this because soo many of us are either married, in relationships, and/ or have children by closeted men. I recently just ended a relationship with a man who I'm 90% sure was participating in homosexual activities with other men. And I choose to say that over saying "gay" because I'm not entirely convinced that he isnt also attracted to women. Sexuality is very complex even more so for men. I think alot of men have a problem with identifying as gay because while they may enjoy sex with other men they still desire the emotional connection from being with a woman. Some men struggle with their sexual identity becuase they were sexually violated as a child by someone of the same sex and when those traumas go unhealed they manifest in very dark and twisted ways as adults. Long story short, this isnt a one size fits all type of situation and not all the red flags are a simple to identify like feminine mannerisms or dressing a certain way. There are plenty of super masculine openly gay men. But, I mirror the sentiments of the most of the comments. The biggest sign is always your discernment/intuition. Warnings come before destruction and the spirit sees things the eyes cannot. The second sign is usually presents its self in the bedroom. A closeted man can hide a long time behind whatever facade they've created until its time to perform sexually with a woman. Sex is one of the most powerful exchanges of energy between 2 people...its a soul tie. Pay Attention. Something will feel off about the experience. After sex with my ex, I always left feeling like "I shouldn't be sleeping with him" even if he was able to make me climax. It just always felt forced... like mechanical. Something that I'd never experienced with previous partners. I dont know just my take on the topic. Even with all of that.... always operate from a place of integrity, protect yourself, and be kind to people. The men who are struggling like this are truly in turmoil with themselves and I can not imagine what life is like if I felt like I had to live a lie.
