I worked for a retinologist for several years (and an Ob/Gyn) and those are just the right symptoms for a detaching retina. I'm so glad you got it checked out. I tell everyone that when it comes to those symptoms it's better to be safe than sorry. I've seen older patients and even very young children/ teens with a torn/ detached retina. That's one thing NOT to mess with. I'm so glad God had it all under control. If you have severe pain after a retinal issue, it's often an increase in intraocular pressure and that needs to be treated quickly. It's excruciating... like a toothache in the eye and can cause all kinds of yucky symptoms. I'm so glad you're feeling better.

Your dad is a sweetheart!!! At first I thought it was going to be a fairly funny story, but what awful stress!!! When I first got floaters I had lightning flashes too, but it did not turn out to be a tear. You two are an amazing loving couple. When Elizabeth had the stroke nobody thought that is what is was, but Bill sensed it was a stroke an insisted the medical staff check Elizabeth for a stroke. Now it looked like Bill was experiencing floaters with lightning flashes which is not serious, but Elizabeth sensed it was something worse insisting someone look into his eyes, and it saved Bill's eyesight. You two are like each other's guardian angels. That is G-D'S amazing love working in each one of you. Elizabeth and Bill I am so sorry to hear you are going through such painful experiences. I know I don't always express how glad I am that you are an example to me, but you are. I'm happy you have your dad with you and that he has you both. Hopefully the doc can use something Bill isn't allergic to next week. I wish I could send you all a nurse. Maybe some loving rich person can gift Elizabeth a hot tub. Her aches could sure use one after all the mayhem ends and you all get a chance to relax. Bill you are a very hard worker. Please take it a bit easy for a while. Physical stress can stress the eye. No heavy lifting!!!

Thank you for sharing your story. What comes through so clear is the love and care you have for one another. That Bill listened to the concern of Elizabeth & sought help immediately, your kind neighbors driving, your care of Bill Sr despite the hardships, & how Elizabeth was able to cope with everything including her own painful injuries (without a drink 😉). Also nice to see how much father & son look alike! Blessings.

Wow. You have been through it. Kudos to Elizabeth for her instinctive reaction to your condition, Bill. My husband has had three episodes of the retinal tears, and one total detachment. The laser surgeries were hard, I'm sure, and like you, he's always well and never complains. He's been a long time since the last time (had to zap him a few hundred times then)...just always know if you see those floaters, IMMEDIATELY call your doctor!!!! GOD sustained you, Elizabeth, through this. With all this going on, it's a miracle you didn't get a relapse before the guys were stable. Praying for you. Guess the surgery was yesterday. I've been meaning to call you, Bill, about the Thrive biz. Got our second order yesterday. SUCH AWESOME PRODUCT! GOD Bless.

Oh my word, what a week! You are so blessed. "Another thank you Jesus moment", as my Mother would say! I'm am so glad to see your sense of humor about it all. It is so easy to feel sorry for ourselves when faced with so many challenges. I can surely relate, I am of the "sandwich" generation. Which means, I am taking care of school age children and elderly parents. My son and mother in-law both use wheelchairs and having to take then to their Dr. appointments can make for a hard day. I know how Elizabeth felt when she said she was either going to cry or sleep. It's not so much from the physical, but the mental stress can be a dozy! As far as the drinking goes, not that I'm encouraging drinking but I would like to share a scripture that talks about enjoying your portion in life. Ecclesiastes 9:7-9, "Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.(8)Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment. (9)Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun".

Wow! God really is Strong when we are weak!🕊️ He was with you all the entire time. Praise God for His Faithfulness and Love! It’s amazing how when we’re so close to falling apart, we realize after all is calm that He never forsakes us. Trusting in Him is most important and although we may not understand why things happen the way they do, it is so true, (as His Word says in Isaiah 55), that His ways really are higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than ours. 🤍🤍🕊️ He gave you the Grace you needed Elizabeth. All Glory to God🙌🕊️🙏 Thank you so much for sharing. Very encouraging🌸

I feel your pain---we've had some medical mayhem going on too nothing as involved as what you've experienced). My Mom had knee replacement and the only people to care for her are myself and my kids and one sister of Mom's who comes occasionally to help out. I got sick the day after we got her home from the hospital. Our two older kids are coming and going to and from college and work 2.5 hours from us) and my husband works long hours. I have a young child at home I homeschool)...so factor that in. It's very taxing on a person's nerves and health, but Praise God, He helps us every time! Thanks for sharing and may God give you rest, peace, and time away from healthcare systems. ;)

I don't know why I'm just now seeing this video, but oh my, I am so sorry for all you had to go thru, but rejoicing with you for all God's provision. Elizabeth, you're such a trooper, & that smile just never quits. You're also a wise woman, & thank God Bill listened to his helper, & heeded your cry to be checked out. Permanent loss of vision is pretty scary stuff. I believe in retroactive prayer, so I'm praying for all of you right now. May the Balm of Gilead bring healing in His wings, & restore the calm. I'm about to watch the follow up video, but I'm hoping all is well with everyone now. I know Bill won't be out of the woods for some time, because the same thing happened to me in Oct, except I didn't have a reaction to the meds like that. I WAS very surprised to see that he didn't have to keep his head face-down for several days though. Usually, they insert a gas bubble into the vitreous sac that doesn't go away for days or weeks, & isn't supposed to touch or sit on the cornea. You were curious as to the reason this happens. As we age, the vitreous fluid in the eyeball begins to transform from a gel-like substance, to a liquid form. As that is happening, the sac holding that gel, begins to collapse like a 3day old balloon. The majority of people are never aware this is happening, & have no symptoms. I'm told that only about 2% of us experience this retinal tear or detachment, which occurs as the sac pulls away from the retina. Many factors can enter in to finally cause the tear, & we are susceptible to the possibility of it happening again. Catching it early is crucial to saving your eyesight. In my case, I have a connective tissue disorder, & had driven up to the top of a 9600ft mountain that day. Altitude liquifies everything! including toothpaste, so naturally that accelerated the liquification of my ophthalmic vitreous, causing a sudden & violent pulling away of the vitreous sac from my retina. I'm wondering too, what the trigger was for Bill. My Dr hasn't released me for travel yet; no changes in altitude is the warning. I go back on Dec 6th for a check up h hopefully a release to travel again. The Lord provided an awesome Dr & Retinal Surgery facility for me that was just 10min from my house. Two days after the black, what I call, "Silly String" that shot across my eye with the light display, a dark curtain began moving across my field of vision. That's when I knew I was in big trouble. Funny how we just blow things off. There's no pain with this, so it's easy to do. But I'm so grateful that even tho I had no insurance, & no money, God provided in amazing ways, & I didn't lose my eyesight. It has been a long road to regaining my sight though, & that eye is still really blurry compared to the other one. We are also no longer candidates for cataract surgery in the future because the risk is too high. No decent Opthomology surgeon will agree to doing that. (Just an FYI, in case your Dr didn't tell you.) Godspeed all, & I'm joining you in praises for his goodness & mercy. You two have been thru the wringer, yet you remain strong in your faith & love for God, & one another. What a testimony! Unfortunately, I can't say the same for myself, having gone thru, & continuing to go thru horrendous losses as well. Just when you think you've lost it all, God reminds us that there's some other blessing we take for granted, that can be gone in an instant. Retinal detachment is a literal & figurative form of being "blind-sided." I'm grateful mine wasn't permanent. Maybe that's a sign my spiritual blindsidedness won't be permanent as well. I can only hope.
