I really like this video. It is very helpful. And it reminds me of years ago when due to a divorce, I found myself and 3 teenage daughters living in a one bedroom apartment. I realized that to make it work, I had to have a plan and be in control of the plan, meaning, to be consistent. I had the girls sleeping in one bunk bed -- the kind where the top mattress is a twin, and the bottom one is a double bed. In that room, each girl had a wall with a dresser and mirror and a place to plug in a curling iron. I slept in the living room on the floor on an exercise mat. Each one of us had a scheduled time in the bathroom in the morning to get ready for the day. I had to get down to the basement laundry room at 5 each morning to keep the laundry going. This went on for a year until our circumstances changed for the better, economically. The Lord was in the workings of this and helped us make it work.

My wife and I lived in an RV for 61/2 years and boy I know about down sizing. We had a place for everything and everything had its place...I've found that even though we moved back into a house we keep living like we did in the RV. Today we live in a house (for 28 years)and I find that I still do the same things... ((smile)) We have had to down size three estates just to get back to where we were before....Some how we got it to all fit into this one house just by using this same method..... I'm retiring in April and have been down sizing again...... I guess It stuck in my head after all those years......this advise is right on and has been a good video and I'm looking forward to the next video..Thanks for sharing...

I have followed your channel for some time. Now we are selling our huge house (empty nesters) to get out of debt. We are going to purchase an RV to live in full time. We are preppers so it is a challenge to downsize to be able to live in a smaller space. I am so thankful for these videos now that I really need them. Much love to you both.

Bill & Elizabeth, yes you will be surprised at a lot of things we don't really need just the basics. And yes I agree very much so on how the Lord provides and takes care of us, we tend to worry sometimes when there's really no reason to worry because he has it in his hands. I have been with a physical disability the past 11 years, and my needs have almost always been met. My apartment is 497 ft, and just watching your videos I know I can do without a lot of things in here. I'm inspired now to donate or give away some items I really don't use or need. Thanks for sharing.

+Lady T. Jesus has been so faithful! It's His miracle that we even have this place. It really is freeing to give away what we don't actually want or need. Then you are surrounded by the things you love the most or, at least, need the most! God bless you!

Laundry idea: What if you put your laundry into the washing machine right away and when it gets full you just turn it on? That would eliminate your basket in your closet and you can use the space for something else. If you have colors and whites you can also use the dryer for your whites or what you choose and when your washer is done you can take the clothes out of the dryer and into the washer to wash next but you never have to use the basket int he closet. Another idea is you can keep your laundry in your sun room and keep your closet fresh and make space for something else in their like more clothes etc.

Excellent ideas, even for those of us who are still 'downsizing'! Thank you for thinking of it and sharing, very motivating, as I sort through belongings and realize that I don't need so much. Focusing in on what we really use and then what our extra blessings might be makes so much sense. I'm not sure I could live without a washer/dryer either.... have to work on maybe giving up the bathtub for a shower..... I've always preferred baths!

I know you survive on Thrive, but if you like making salads, I have an idea about how to store lettuce. I put the romaine in plastic shopping bag and then I put it in the refrigerator and it's good for weeks. The ones you get at the register. I am really enjoying these videos. I rent a home with three roommates and I am trying to learn not to clutter my spaces. You are helping me alot, Thanks TinyHousePrepper !

We like a lot of salads, and that's something Thrive does not do real well. You can make a fresh salad (except for the lettuce) with Thrive, but usually we go buy fresh stuff when we want a salad.

Watching in 2022. Praying for you to get better Elizabeth. Wow, this is really good! I think as a couple it would be important to be in agreement with the menu making. We tend to eat out or do random shopping even after I have decided what the meals are. That's where the freezer comes in handy. Unfortunately, when it happened too often it becomes a juggling act. Thanks for the encouragement to be less wasteful. I'm working on it!👍

Thank you for your words of wisdom. ...In this economy my dollar does not buy what it used to...That said, I need to make a commitment to God who provides that I will not waste food. I am not in a tiny home but have toyed with the idea for several years. .But I work many hours and have commitments that get in the way of the best intentions to cook and eat healthy. I have learned a lot from you both. The Lord has told me for years to simplify and be mobile. It is never too late. He has such patience!

Hi You mentioned food going "wilty" I have fund. If you use those plastic bags that you put veggies in at the store or even the plastic shopping bags are great also. So you put your veggies in then make a little space and blow into the bag then seal it. You will not believe how your carbon dioxide keeps food fresh even Cilantro with a cup in a little water lasts me 2 weeks, which is amazing. Als for some reason I've fund if you put meats in plastic ziplock, remove air, then wrap in two plastic grocery bags it doesn't freezer burn. Just some Hacks for yall. Happy Trails.

I am new at living in a camper trailer. I have a 40 amp box. What will I have to change in order to put a stackable washer and dryer in my camper. What all did you have to do to accomplish the stackable washer and dryer as well as dish washer. Oh and where do they sale stackable washer and dryers these days. Here in NC I find them very hard to find in any appliance stores.
@LiveSimpleLiveFree
@LiveSimpleLiveFree 8 жыл бұрын
We upgraded the 40 amp to 100 amp service so that we could add washer/dryer, dishwasher, A/C, and electric baseboard heat as backup for when we don't use the woodstove. You should probably talk to an electrician to find out what would be necessary in your situation. We got our stackable washer/dryer at Lowes.

Do you have storage space below the home? I am thinking, with my future tiny home, that I am going to add a storage compartment (closet) below the home, making it water and pest proof. There I will store seasonal things in tubs, such as winter wear, blankets, and any extra cookware/dishes needed to cook for company. Basically a storage shed...lol

The only people who have ever looked down on us are You Tube trolls, LOL, who don't know us or our situation. We've had many trolls call us white trailer trash. I just delete them and go on without a thought. Most people, when they discover that we are debt free, are envious of that. There is a HUGE segment of society who are discovering that bigger is NOT better, and that the tiny life is simpler and freer. That's why the growth in the tiny house movement all over the country. Don't worry about others, Do what's right for YOU. We have gained so much financial freedom and stress relief that, instead of worrying about what others think of me, I feel sorry for THEM - still being stuck in the rat race and carrying all that debt and stress. NO THANK YOU!

@LiveSimpleLiveFree
@LiveSimpleLiveFree 5 жыл бұрын
Thrive Life food is great for long-term storage because of the 25 year shelf life. But it is also GREAT for daily use! It is more nutritious than grocery store "fresh" produce. It is more convenient to use. It eliminates spoilage waste (the average household throws away 25% of the food they buy because of spoilage), and many other benefits to daily use. We use Thrive Life food in about 60-70% of our daily cooking, and have for years. We love it!

We have gotten this suggestion HUNDREDS of times over the past several years. So much so that I have stopped responding to it. I’m not sure if you understand what it’s like to have to answer the same suggestion over and over again... for years! Even if we did a video about it, within a month that video would be buried, and the same suggestion would continue coming in. Don’t get me wrong, we appreciate the suggestions. But a cover over the sink is just not something that either one of us are interested in doing. 😀 But as long as we DON’T have one, that same suggestion will keep coming in... hundreds of times more!
