Yes! Sometimes she says stuff like that where she's explaining herself or apologizing but I wish she could see our reactions through the screen. Even though she felt like we would think that she was being difficult, I was genuinely scared for her even though it was in the past. I was furious at how so many adults were treating her and as a parent, I would be livid if anyone touched/talked to my daughter like that. Thats what makes it even more infuriating is that these ppl knew they could get away with treating her like that bcz she didn't really have a guardian who would stand up for her.

When you say, "I know you guys are probably like, "Why didn't you just go?' " No, ma'am. I'm right there with you: you were right to not want to go and the reasons don't matter. Sometimes when you've suffered trauma, and have to hide thr fact you've suffered, while also undergoing other traumatic events you feel the need to overexplain yourself. People don't have to give elaborate explanations as to why they will or won't do something, because in general they feel they have a right to make a choice regardless of how others may perceive them. But when you feel you have to cherish every crumb of kindness, or being treated at least not bad, you over explain yourself in an effort not to break your imagined fragile bond with others. Thank you for sharing your story with us Alexis. We're here to support you and I want to encourage and validate your feelings, because your inner niña flaquita is still out here trying to take care of herself in this crazy world.

Alexis I am in the same phase of healing where I felt as though I was wronged so many times and abused by so many people throughout my life that I am just done with it! How you are feeling and reacting is a completely normal sign that you are healing healthily! Do not feel bad for standing up for yourself no matter how angry you may get this is absolutely normal! This is the inner Alexis telling you it is time for you to heal and time for you to be exactly who you want to be deep down! You are recognizing that in order to be valued as a person you do not have to reinstate your value by doubling tripling quadrupling your efforts for anyone. Instead you need to cut off ties because they are taking advantage of you! The same exact thing happened to me just recently! So proud of you for going through this journey! It takes courage and a lot of strength to finally do it! I am also proud of myself for recognizing this in you someone I look up to and I think we are almost the same person sometimes! Girl my husband and I love your story times, you telling your struggles has helped my husband understand me and my past. He never understood the trauma and pain my past caused and didn’t get why it still hurts or why I still want a relationship with my dad and sister even tho they both chose my rapist over me. He now understands why my moms addiction and suicide lead to me having major abandonment issues. I know it isn’t about me and no one’s experience is more important or more painful then someone else’s. I had to cut ties with my people too, and guess what I learned? THAT ITS OK! It’s ok to say no. It’s ok to stop and put people in their place. I've had that issue a lot too, people in my family or dating especially. A guy just said he wanted a relationship and as soon as we had sex he just wanted to be friends again. It hurts a lot and he said it wasn't anything to do with me, but it still feels off. Thank you for the storytimes, they really make my days better and you're not wrong for standing up for yourself

I just started watching your videos. I work night shifts and listening to your stories give me some sort of company & make me feel less alone. I have been through some challenging events throughout my life, most of which were in my childhood. With that said, when you share your stories I feel like I resonate with some of them. I remember how challenging I found it to cut people off from my life, even family, but when I started cutting those people off I felt a relief and felt like I could finally work on myself.
