It’s like that in the black community too where you couldn’t be curious or share your feelings. A lot of things go unsaid. It’s a cycle. I didn’t want to cry in front of my now-husband either but one day he sat me down, bear hugged me, and let me cry. He didn’t squirm away or get bored. It was the kindest thing that ever happened to me and it’s sad I had to wait to become an adult to feel that.

"Be funny, but don't be stupid with me." Girl I can relate so hard with the toxic family dynamic of bullying/picking on you and thinking that it's funny. It happens so often in Native families as well. Your story times make me realize how valid my feelings were about so many scenarios. Good on you for not tolerating that behavior as an adult. Sometimes it is just easier to "keep the peace" but that only enables these cycles to continue. Thank you for this series! ❤️❤️❤️

Crying does a lot of amazing things for your mind, body, and soul... Similar to laughing. Don't hold it in.... That's weakness.... Confronting your feelings is always harder and takes a strong person to do so.

So true !!!t I'm really open with my words ...and expressing myself but I get weird about crying but have no problem letting other people vent to me . Or let it out

@@gloriamosby7527 I highly recommend finding a healthy way for you to let go and cry, even if it's done alone or with a stranger. I hope you are able to find healthy ways to let your emotions out. Someone I met online when I was a young adult had a hard time crying because of her emotional abusive parents. Eventually she discovered that she could cry when talking to people over the phone if she didn't know them in person. This was discovered after an online friendship became an over-the-phone friendship. Eventually, she learned to make use of suicide hotlines because she didn't have insurance. Some people don't realize that these lines can be used as a means of therapy to prevent a person from getting to the point of considering suicide....you won't be turned away if you state that you aren't suicidal but instead are desperately in need of someone to talk to and get advice.

Girl when you said "because, if we're being honest, our parents didn't want to be bothered" sooo on point. I realize as i get older than so much of what happened to me wasn't my fault, and I didn't tell bc I thought my parents would get MAD AT ME, for things a grown ass man did. That's not okay, Mr. Peach wasn't okay when he was touching your legs and any other inappropriate touching. I think as children (esp those of us who grew up in households where you would get bad spankings, verbal & emotional conditioning and abuse) we were just so terrified of getting in trouble that we swept so much under the rug. Your stories help soo much more than you know! ♥️ Also know you're not the only one who hates crying in front of your husband or anyone. Same here, sometimes it literally only takes one time for someone to make fun of you in that vulnerable point for you to want to shut it down and never let it happen. Been married 7 years to an amazing man and I still hold it back as much as I can. We're all on our own journey's but we're all healing ❤️🩹 together

I love this series I relate to your childhood so much. My mom had me at 14 and I can remember being like 8 years old and helping my mom let the air outta my step dads tires at a bar parking lot in the middle of the night. She raised me as more of a little sister than a daughter. My grandparents had 5050 custody bc my dad grown man punched me in the face at age 3 (for not crying..) and blacked my eyes so I don’t know where I’d be without them. If anything it’s taught me how to be a good mom and protect my kids from an environment like that.

1000% yes on the growing up in a Mexican household. I too HATE crying because I feel weak and vulnerable but I’ve worked through some of it through therapy. Growing up I had no idea what therapy was, I thought it was something white rich people would do and just to talk to a stranger. I didn’t know it was for someone’s own mental health. I hope upcoming generations in the culture are more openly okay with mental health and having open conversations.

Yess, I would go in a room and cry when someone made me feel like shit and then come out like nothing. My sister had depression and when someone told my father she needed therapy my father insisted that she didn’t. We never had a way to express how we felt or it would be deemed as weakness or disrespect so me and most of my siblings always ended up bottling everything in. We were raised to always be strong independent black people. No kid should ever feel like they can’t talk to their parent.

At 31:00 “I just want to be happy with my life” this struck a chord with me because I’ve felt like that a few times as a child growing up. When you’re a child and you’re faced with adult matters that become challenging and emotionally draining, it’s too much. It’s so sad and messed up to be in those situations. Especially deep down when you know you’re a good person but dang sometimes life just throw rotten people in your path. I feel these things happened for a reason. Things are good today and I’m in a good place because of the choices I made. I have 2 little boys and I do everything in my power to not let them experience what I experienced growing up. I want better for them and for that reason I feel that’s why I am who I am today. Thank you 😊 💓 for your story time. It really helps me forget about my pain and symptoms I have from chemo. Earlier this yr I was diagnosed with colon cancer stage 4. (I can relate to a lot from what you went through). This chemo is no joke got all the symptoms from chemo, so I love watching your story time and your make up tutorials really helps distract me from all im going through thank you for being you. Your amazing keep it up. Thank you once again.

Just got off a shift after the UFC fights now watching your video because your child and teenage years were similar to mine. I love your energy and love that keep it 💯 and all the extra details you give, Is great substance to add to story time. You explain everything that keeps me interested in your channel and how I need to re-build my life.❤❤❤
