That's why you se videos of squirrel and birds not running as a indoor cat paws at them thru the window. That same animal would bolt with the quickness w/o the glass barrier. The dog understand the lion would be a threat, but also knows it's protected by the glass. If anything it's likely intentionally taunting the lion by standing there. @@savedbygrace6076I'm not so sure...larger predators don't always attack. Humans put too much thought into what would, should, could happen but the laws of nature are sooo different. Humans have forgotten how to coexist with nature. For example, we have a large coyote population in our area. We still camp outside and yes, coyotes have come into our yard as we sleep outside. One night, I had to use the bathroom and on my way into the house I came face to face with a large alpha. I sat down and became small. Why? So I looked less intimidating. He walked towards me. He didn't charge and didn't bare his teeth. He wasn't snarling and I sat very still with my hands in my lap so not to worry him. He sat down right in front of me and as he looked at me I looked back at him. I spoke softly to him and he got up and ran off. Show no fear and stay safe. Besides, there's nothing to fear. Animals, no matter the size, don't usually attack unless provoked. Sometimes, they are just as curious about us as we are about them.

@yuo3670 No, sliding glass doors are not typically reinforced glass. Slam that door hard enough and watch it shatter. @@cjking4511 What planet do you live on? The domesticated dog was friendly because it has been bred to be sociable. This means not only doesn’t it recognize a mortal enemy, it lacks self-protective instincts. Have you ever seen the big cats of Africa stalk their prey? They look animated and friendly, too …right up until they chase down whatever they’re hunting, snap its spinal cord or suffocate them. Cheetahs are particularly adorable - but that doesn’t mean they’re not deadly. Ive lived out in the mountains my entire life and can confirm there is not much to worry about. Its pretty rare for a lion to break into someone's house. Bears are normally the ones who do that sort of thing. They are rather timid when coming into contact with humans and would rather run away than confront a human. You could have probably scared it off if you came closer to the door or made yourself seem bigger. The biggest concern is letting your dog out alone. Best be there with a weapon when your dog is let outside. They do get scared of loud sudden noises most of the time.

Our dog was killed by a mountain lion in our fully fenced back yard in Tucson. Zazu was a 19 year old long haired Chihuahua. We were out for a bathroom break and the phone rang. Turned around to get the phone in the house. A few feet from the house the dog yelped. Ran back to the dog who was clearly gone and was face to face with a mountain lion. I was yelling waving my arms around and a bit out of my mind. The mountain lion jumped to the top of the 6' fence from about 15' away and was gone with the dog. What I learned: -Mountain lions are big and a fence will not stop them. -If my animal is in danger I will do stupid things. -No dogs in the back yard (we walk them and don't let them out)

If that dog was on the other side of that glass "fearless" would be the last word in your vernacular to describe the blood curdling screams that we'd be bearing witness to.
