Personally I have 400+ something microlocs, and I did them and have been maintaining them all by myself. I guess locs really do end up being a life style because it took me 2 weeks to initially start them, but now it can take up to only 4hrs to retighten. I'm kind of bummed you didn't try to keep going. It takes a hell of a lot of effort, but you learn to love the product of your success. Thought I found a free parted sister 😭

Im glad it worked out for you 😊. I think it was more work than I expected. I was new to the loc community and wanted to make sure I was going about it the right way because I know I can get lazy at times.

I think you got a great deal with the boot camp as you started with a trainee but an a professional finished it. They both sound great.

Yea it ended up working out because the person who finished was her instructor.

I'm so glad your journey is going better for you 🥰 I've never heard of the boot camp, but I would like a Q&A on that😊 How much did it cost? How long did it take? How many locs did you end up having? How often are your reties? Will the instructor be doing your reties from now on or will the trainee be taking over your locs? Thanks so much for this video❤❤❤

It seems like you should braid and band your hair at wash days if you aren’t already. I mean that’s a “microloc/sisterlock must do.” I mean I started mine with braids and I stopped braiding and banding after a month lol. It really does depend on the texture.
@cilyahowell05293 жыл бұрын
I wasn’t doing that when I installed them myself which is probably also why it was unraveling. But now that I do that it helps my current locs

Glad things worked out for you. Questions- Why were split ends an issue for you? Did you start off on already-damaged hair??? Or, are you referring to the locs unraveling when you say “split ends?” Also, what does the boot camp entail? Is this a sisterloc boot camp??? Please make it make sense ❤😊
@cilyahowell05294 ай бұрын
@@DatGurlErikaJay Hey! My ends were split before locking. They were an issue because when retightened there would be a lot of slippage and breakage, therefore it wouldn’t hold up in the long run. The boot camp entails a group of students that are shadowed by a licensed professional loctician. They are all completing a full install of Sisterlocks to go towards getting their license so the install for the client is better financially. They are all supervised through each step to make sure things are installed properly.

Wow sounds like you were really confused at the start. Your e as a DIY. Sister locks are a science. Using a grid. It's based on length and density. S.L. are a certain pattern. The grid takes a lot if time to do. It's not free hand parting. Glad you found an experience person to help you.

The great thing about SL is after the first 6 months you can maintain your own locs doing interlocking. I took the self retightening class during quarantine and while I like the idea of being able to maintain my hair myself I love the convenience of going to my consultant. Good luck with your journey.
@cilyahowell05293 жыл бұрын
@@b.1494 That makes so much sense because its not as thick or tangled during the first stages. If you don’t mind me asking. Do you still self retighten and how much was the class? And how long did it take you to retighten?
@b.14943 жыл бұрын
@@cilyahowell0529 I took the class for ~300 my retightening costs about 100. I only do it myself if I have a scheduling issue because it takes me 6-8 hrs and takes my loctician 2-3 hrs.

Anything DIY is not sisterlocs and should not be called sisterlocs as sisterlocs are a brand that involves training. It’s training involved with a special grid pattern

Your logic sounds foolish. So many licensed stylists are self taught. How do you think they learned about sisterlocs and the grid pattern? Someone had to have came up with that in order for it to be a thing. Do some research on Dr. JoAnne Cornwell so that you can educate yourself on this topic instead of spewing out the foolishness that you posted here.

@@cocoliwise I’ve struck a never to the uneducated. While you may believe sisterlocks and microlocks are the same I encourage you to educate yourself more. I guess a Dr is the same as a nurse in your eyes also.
