Since you’re cooking with apples, I thought I’d leave a verse to go along with it. Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings. Psalm 17:8

My grandmother use to makes these and give them to me for breakfast occasionally when I was in grade school. One day I went to the school nurse at Fox Chase Elementary School with a stomach ache(back in the early 60s). She asked me what I had for breakfast and I told her a warm Apple Dumpling with homemade vanilla ice cream and a cup of coffee. She couldn't believe it! I made this recipe and it reminded me of my beloved grandmom- Thanks Becky, it brought tears to my old eyes!

Becky, it took me all my life to realize that. My father died when I was 8,I tried to blame God, and the devil. My mom told me it wasn't God nor was it the devil. But since I've always looked at the bad & that's what I remember. I've finally learned at the age of 62. Never too old to learn! God Bless you Becky.

My Mama loved Blackberry dumplings and she wanted me to make her some. I had moved in to take care of her. It was off season & I could have gotten frozen berries however, she became worse Jan 2015. I called 911 and she passed June 3, 2015, never being able to come home again. The dumplings were never made and I have carried guilt ever since. I had made strawberry dumplings several times but…..blackberries were her favorite. I’ve been pretty sick this year and haven’t watched all the videos I have enjoyed for for many years. You have always been a blessing to me, sweet Becky. Christ in you! The hope of glory! Much love from Church Hill, TN. ✝️💟💜🙏🏻

AGREE. OVER ON HER BBQ PULLED PORK VID OF JULY 3 2021 ,SHE HAS A MEAT MASHER/POKER/PULLER THAT LOOKS LIKE A PAINT MIXER YOU PUT ON A DRILL L!! IV NEVER SEEN BEFORE. THINGS CHANGE BUT RECYCLE AGAIN EVENTUALLY. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT RIDGID PLASTIC TYPE SPOON WASN'T AROUND ANYMORE, ITS NOT AT BBB? !UHOHH, ILL BE NICER TO MINE!! I DON'T HAVE ANY METAL COOKWARE AT ALL/ NOT ANY INDUCTION, JUST ELECTRIC AND USE VISIONS GLASSWARE COOKWARE, I HAVE EXTRA PIECES. I COULD/MIGHT SELL A FEW, BUT I KEEP WONDERING IF SHOULD. IF STAINLESS STEEL STAYS HIGHEST QUALITY I MIGHT CONSIDER INDUCTION, BUT NOT IF THAT ALHIEMERS ALUMINUM CASES USED TO BE AND CHINA COULD BE SCAMMING US AGAIN TO USE THESE CHEAP METAL ITEMS AGAIN REGARDLESS UP TO A FEW YRS AGO WERE SUPPOSE TO BE ALHEIMERZ PRONE. CHINA DOES CONFUSE THE WORLD BAD ENOUGH, AND IS ALLOVER OUR LIVES WORLDWIDE, SO BE CAREFUL AND BUY AS HIGH OF QUALITY USA MADE AS POSSIBLE. REVEREWARE I THINK IS STILL USA MADE/ COPPER CLAD TO HEAVY THICKEST STAINLESS HIGH GRADE.. I HAVE ONE SKILLET THAT'S IT. I DON'T EVEN HAVE CAST IRON SINCE THAT RUSTS I CAN'T GO BACK TO MY HISTORY THAT WAY FAR.. MY MOMS OLD REVERE SET LOOKN NOT HALF BAD LOL AS GOOD IT STOOD UP!? Your faith and your conviction make you a great witness. Thank you for that. As a 20 year Civil War reenactor we ate a host of scrabbled together foods in camp. Always brought more than we needed. We were trying to cook off some stuff so we didn't have to pack it out. We had a good amount of Granny Smith Apples and several Vidalia onions. I got my prep crew together and got them chopping. (Artillery crew of about 8 men) They thought I was crazy. We had a big pan with some leftover oil and venison tenderloin bit's, pieces, and juices. The only spices we had were salt and pepper. We sautéed them all nice and added some salt and pepper. Those guys that thought I was crazy said it was the best thing they ate all weekend. Crunchy texture with a sweet and salty combo. I've made it at home and added a spritz of cinnamon. Just wanted to share. Even my wife loved it. Love your channel. Praise God. Jesus Is Lord.

Hey you all, I've used a number of your recipes and have really enjoyed them. I love to cook now that I'm retired. The Lord has given me poems over the years & I thought that sharing one with you would be a way of blessing you back & perhaps help someone on their way. The Love of A King. (Written by Steve Kinkead) Come weary child, let your King reconcile all that's troubled inside of you. Let your heart be at ease, let your mind be at peace for He's calling, He's calling for you. I love you, my child, with a love meek and mild, and I, long to bid you ado. To walk for a while and talk for a while and to settle all that's troubled in you. When the winds of life blow through all that I promised for you and it seems it's all just a dream you once knew, come then my child, let your King reconcile all that's troubled inside of you. When there is no answer for the trouble that you're facing and my peace seems to have fled from you, just come my child, let your King reconcile all that's troubled inside of you, let your heart be at ease, let your mind be at peace for He's calling, He's calling for you. He owns all there is, all created at His command, He has everything, lacks nothing, yet He's calling for you. You're the apple of His eye and the cause of His heart is to bid, to bid you ado. To send you His love on the wings of a dove and to wrap His big arms around you, He'll always be there listening for your prayer and He'll stay till your peace is renewed. Then He'll be by your side as you learn to abide in His Presence knowing that He's calling for you. Yes, come now my child abide for a while for He's calling for you, a place in His court has been saved His Angels aware of it too. They wait to rejoice at the sound of your voice as you call on your King anew. As you answer His call and give Him your all and learn to bid Him ado He'll come to your side there to abide and reconcile all that's troubled in you.

I used to make apple dumplings like this when my children were small, but I never thought to add vanilla extract, for some reason. I tried it with the vanilla, and it really added that extra something that was missing. They are absolutely delicious! I love watching your videos! You are such a blessing to me and to my mother, who watches you, too! Know that you are loved and in our prayers!

Hearing your voice reminds me of relatives from Ohio. They would bake cakes and pies for the Church July 4th festival in Wapakoneta. I loved it. We'd travel from PA to it when I was a kid. Thanks and God bless you 🙏. Hugs 😇🤗

Becky doesn’t sound like anybody I know who lives around Wapak. Rural Ohioans have a twang that Urban Ohioans don’t have, but this isn’t it. My mother-in-law’s family moved from West Virginia to Ohio so they have a slight Appalachian drawl. I wonder if your relatives lived in Appalachia before they moved to the western part of Ohio.

You know I remember around 40 or more years ago that Wendy’s hamburger restaurants use to have apple dumplings and they were so so good but they stopped it for some reason. I’m 66 now and I still remember how good those were and that’s really the only time I’ve ever had them. Your recipe sounds very close to what I remember.

@@TheHillbillyKitchen apparently I way overcooked the apples. I thought I was following your timing, I turned it into runny applesauce dumplings. I used cider as the liquid. It had a good taste, so I want to try again. Any suggestions?
