@senorfro
@senorfro 3 жыл бұрын
@@moy_moy85 They're meh, at best. Hit sounds need to have that snap or pop when something is hit to have a satisfying sound. SOR4 sounds like slapping a bag, or a muted newspaper hitting lettuce. It's not impactful. Listen to hit sounds from the other SOR games, Final Fight, Battletoads arcade, Fight N' Rage, Double Dragon Neon as theirs have that oomph sound to them.

@BoozeAholic
@BoozeAholic 4 жыл бұрын
@@19DM91 Not even close. SOR4 is too restrictive & forces you to play in a certain way due to how nearly every enemy has super armor, including the skinny twerps like Mr. Y & the hands in pockets guy. SOR4 is good, but it's not better than the original trilogy. Fight N Rage comes closer to taking that mantle & The Takeover feels & looks more like an actual sequel to SOR 1-3.

@@19DM91 SOR4 dives heavily into risk-reward gameplay with special moves costing green health when you use them, combined with enemies that spam moves like crazy, encouraging you to use multiple specials in a row then gamble on not getting hit by a stray move as you build your lifebar back. It plays differently than the original trilogy did, and it's a playstyle that I don't care for. I much prefered SOR3's special gauge. It also has a pretty disappointing soundtrack.

I'd also love to see a video on SOR3. That was a time where a lot of American publishers made changes to games to make them harder. The speculation is that they wanted to make people play them for longer so they couldn't finish them during a rental. In this case, they made the default difficulty of SOR3 the hard difficulty of Bare Knuckle 3. Sega of America also feared that people would look at screenshots of SOR3 and think that it looked the same as the last one, so they swapped the colors of the main roster's clothes. They also added clothing to some of the women and removed the homosexual character to avoid controversy. Remember, this was not that long after Senators freaked out over the violence and sexuality of Night Trap of all things..

A friend of mine suggested your channel recently. I can't get enough, love the work you put into these videos! So far, this is my favourite, Streets of Rage 2 has such a amazing soundtrack, and was an amazing game.

You can really tell from the finished product when a huge amount of dedication and care goes into a project. This applies to not only Streets of Rage 2, but to this excellent documentary!

God, I remember when Streets of Rage 2 came out when I was 8 years old, the music blew my mind. Still does to this day. Some of the best video game music ever created. Very in depth video. Thank you, Strafefox!

Great documentary. Streets of Rage saga has something very special, in every game they bring something new, the first one with the team tactics, the second one with new attacks and a character who can run and the third one (very underrated in my opinion), the 3 star system, special attacks with weapons, 3 different endings, two different final levels and the harder of the three games. Story of Thor, amazing game.

technical excellence. the way you condensed the information as effectively as entertainingly is simply IMPRESSIVE! (especially the music bits) the video length fits this more compressed style, but it would still be VERY interesting to see what you'd do in an hour long format; seems like you're slowly heading in that direction as well.

Absolutely excellent documentary. Over the years I came to realize that SOR2 is the best beat'em up across any console or even coin-op games.

Awww yes, I loved SoR2! My brother and I played the hell out of this back when it came as a pack-in with the Genesis here in the States. I personally enjoyed this way more than Sonic games. The music was so good constantly I'd plug my headphones into my console and listen to that memorable soundtrack. Games today should still have a mode to enjoy tunes like that. Kudos to yet another beautifully made mini doc.
