A good leave-in provides some heat protection to hair. And sometimes heat protectant can add an artificial silkiness to ends that are so damaged you’d otherwise cut them. The key is to know your hair, know what effect you’re going for, and consider how much length you’re willing to risk because you misgauged a distorted trim.

I don't blow dry or straighten my hair before I trim it, but I do pull my stretched hair into a low pony to help me see what needs to be cut. It's so much easier to tell exactly what needs to be cut. Nobody wants a straggly ponytail LOL!

Now i see how u got heat damage ... question did u use a heat protectant or just the TGIN product super moist? The super moist added weight to ur press out. Next time i would just go to a natural stylist
