Throw a 3 inch down pipe on and an intake and you’ll notice a dramatic difference and get better turbo spool. The turbo flange on the back could also be ported

I removed the stock airbox and bought an equipment air filter (forgot the part #) used a chunk of 3" PVC to couple it to my stock intake hose and it's mint. Whistly at idle and lower EGTs (I'm assuming I don't have a pyrometer)

Think about just what a turbo-charger does in your engine, all eight cylinders worth of exhaust are constricted down to the size of a baseball, spinning an impeller. All those throaty exhaust pulses, one by one, are mixed up together in that turbine. Those particular pulses are now "blended" together, effectively killing that sound we want. Diesel or gas engines running thru a single turbine will never get you that particular sound you want, twin turbos will help...but the naturally aspirated is always best, no blender to mess things up.

Well, sure, but not exactly what I meant. I actually love the sound - it's(IMHO) much better than N/A. It's more a measure of how much a few bends and a restrictive downpipe will quiet down an IDI, compared to both a N/A IDI or my other (3" straight pipe with no bends after the DP) IDI.

With the glass pack on the turbo idi does it still have the popping sound at high rpm

Not sure... On my other truck(Big Bird, the tan truck), I've got that glass pack on it, and a pre-axle dump. On this truck(Big Red), I never got around to adding a glass pack; it's not particularly annoying. The popping happens on decel, at like 2000-2400 RPM. Above it, it goes away. Below it, it goes away. So I usually just don't engine break in that range much, especially in a populated area. Oh, and I'm pretty sure the quietness is due to all the extra bends in the exhaust from a 'full' exhaust - I've swapped the motor since this video was posted when I blew a head gasket(overheated the motor when serp tensioner broke), and the new motor sounds exactly the same(old one was a 7.3 non-turbo block; new one was 7.3 turbo block with a slight tick; old motor ended up in Big Bird).

Not on subject... What year is that? My f250 7.3idi na is a 92. And is the same color. I was given the impression the truck was painted those colors by the dealer as a special, because of a local university. (Wazzu. Crimson Tide. Crimson and grey.) Now has me questioning the story. LOL

Mine's a '93. The colors are EL and RC("wild strawberry metallic" and "medium platinum metallic"). I've also seen a couple others with this exact color scheme out there; one even locally.

Ok. Sorry for the misunderstanding. First of all, I was exaggerating to make it more likely for you to respond. Second, the injector pump is not stock, I don't remember the part number but it's not stock. The turbo is 12 psi at about 2400 rpm so the top boost is above that, again not sure exact number. I also converted it to an electronic fuel pump which sends about 8 percent more fuel than the mechanical pump. It also has an extremely high flowing exhaust, unrestricted down pipe and it rusted off at the cab. I then got my fuel system 100 percent cleaned so it has it's maximum potential. The exact number was I think just under 300hp. There are other mods I can't remember because I've been working on my 2002 7.3 Powerstroke lately.
