Love the old 1.9l TDI. I've got one in my 2002 Jetta. Old silver wagon. A 19 year old car is still getting about 32-34mpg(automatic tran). I'm atop a mountain so if it weren't for that daily climb, I'd prolly get a little better fuel economy. Bottom line, it may be a bit of a tractor engine, but it remains to this day a life-long car if you service it by keeping good oil in it and slap a new Turbo/timing belt on it periodically. And still the best mpg of any older car you'll find today.

I’m actually a racing driver and I can tell you he doesn’t have control of the car properly with his way of handling the wheel. Anything slightly wrong and he will mostly crash just because he wants to look smooth for KZbin or his passenger.

A shame that they only build the 105hp 1.9tdi in the mk5. And not the bigger 1.9tdi‘s. The mk5 is to heavy. I had one with stage1 145hp, and my friend with his Golf 4 110hp was even faster than the stage1 mk5. I mean, nearly 300kg difference of the car weight. Consumption is also high, around 6,5-7L. Mk4 does 4,5-5,5L. The mk5 has it‘s problems. But with the 1.9tdi it runs forever. Unless the rust enters the chat…

I've got a Seat Leon mk2 1.9 TDI stage 2 ( defap+remap) but I've had problems with that 145hp/330nm map on my Leon...it caused me a PD Injectors mess (3 broken caps and 1 broken injector body on cyl 2)....so now i got something around 130cv and 300nm...but I've never did dyno or anything to check. If it’s badly maintained and your turbo or clutch are worn out, then the remap is going to make things only worse. But if everything is fine, then it won’t do any harm. This car in the video is just under 300k km and has the remap for 20k km now and it’s done just fine!

Not if its been serviced good, my bxe in 2010 skoda octavia was tuned from 110bhp/240nm to 152/350nm with stage 1 ecu tune at 240,000km now has over 300km, no problems, I got a tune with dyno run before & after, so have rough idea of figures. It got a new clutch before I bought it, but otherwise nothing mechanical has been touched.

Заслужава си, разбира се, но само, ако колата е в изправно състояние. Ако нещо е тръгнало да сдава багажа, ще го довършиш доста по-бързо. Иначе колата се усеща коренно различна, а със същото каране разходът даже пада надолу.

@@DrivingExclusive Живея във Испания и я купих миналото лято на 165.000км. Почистих и смукателния колектор че имаше страшно много нагар. Егр-а и него почистих. Турбото няма аксиален луфт нито радиален. Като ново е. Колата е карана и продължавам да карам със масло Ravenol 5w40 VST, и на трансмисията смених маслото. Като цяло колата е доста запазена и мотора е в много добро състояние. И мисля да и направя Custom Remap, но не знаех че разхода може и да падне.
