So sorry to hear about this issue , When you're trying to open the housing, did you make sure to relieve the pressure by turning on the cold water faucet handle, so no water comes out, after shutting off the cold water valve? I ask because without doing this step, you've got around 1,000 pounds of pressure applied to the system, which would be impossible for anyone to loosen!
