I prefer honest but not jealous friend. I think mean friends come from jealous place. As far as the comment about dating 10 for 10, I can’t agree more. People have unrealistic views on their character and appearance and go for people out of their league. I'm that friend that gives blunt, perhaps harsh advice. For me its because I care about the person and I want them to excel and for others to see them the way I see them. Those who seem to value their forthright ability for brute honesty is all well and good - but all too often, these people fail to recognize the way their brute honesty can come off as brazenly opinionated, overly judgmental, and even down right rude. Those who are more civilly inclined, are often scoffed and rejected by these brutally honest types, mainly because they mistake manners for fake-ness. Unfortunately - the brutally honest types are clearly missing the viability in their faltering unapproachability - everyone has shortcomings, the civilly inclined types can mistake brutal honesty as unsolicited rudeness. In my most brutally honest opinion - brutal honesty should never ever trump manners and kindness.
