Straight truck sleeper conversion.

update, I do not build box truck sleepers anymore 7/27/23!
This is a 2012 Freightliner M2 straight truck with a 26' box. I made a 54" sleeper with a 3000 watt powerdrive inverter, 2 house batteries, 5kw diesel heater, 8,000btu air conditioner, 2,000 watt Honda generator. After the owner stained the inside and added his own touches it came out really nice.

Before I retired in 2015, and, in past years, I had a 3000 watt inverter mounted on the driver side on the underside of the bed (bed was built from Freightliner to raise up for storage). After about a year and a half the inverter died and I was told that happened because it didn't have adequate ventilation; I see you mount YOUR inverters [as does everyone else] in a 'box' as well. Do you really think that's the only thing I used to seal the opening? It has a rubber seal that is made of truck sleepers. The carpet is just to cover it up.

Lol, what do you think this one was done for? Looks? It was done in an over the road truck. And there is no approval needed. As long as it meets the minimum requirements for a DOT sleeper, it approved.

Lol, it totally effects the safety of the vehicle. And if it's not done correctly it will not meet DOT requirements to log as "sleeper birth" time..

Then go make another one then. I have a business to run. You may have built one but was it safe and legal? Did it have the proper seal? Could it pass a DOT safety inspection? Depends on how big you want the sleeper. But for it to be a legal DOT sleeper birth it has to be 32x74x36

Depends on the truck. GVWR and the load you are picking up.
