I was 20 back then and was student in Paris...I went to The alternative music shop Dancetaria one day and the track "hail" was played as I entered the shop...I immediately bought the CD...I still have it 26 years after...

So epic- and live- EPIC. Layering guitars and beautiful vocals- absolute magic. Shane's songs are unique and Andrew plays great guitar on them.

Found a second hand copy of this on vinyl in the 90s as a teenager. Apparently the band weren't satisfied with the album, but IMO it's their best... possibly the greatest guitar-rock album ever. The cathartic closer "This Taste Delight" is a fav.

I was talking with a former Mushroom Records executive a few years ago while serving him, they loved the Fits but apparently the executives clashed with Shayne, and refused to promote the band. It's such a shame, because their shows at the Gluepot in Ponsonby were some of the best I've ever seen. I know it's "She Speeds" that grabs all the kudos, but "Life in One Chord" is still my favourite song.

Thanks heaps for that. I was digging back on one of my favourite albums "Melt" and checked this out. I think I really like the songs that have Andrew Broughs influence or vocals the most. They always have a sense of beauty I can't describe.

Interesting tracklist. Seems to mash together the original NZ LP with the entirety of the "Life In One Chord" EP, IIRC. Though I guess the omitted tracks were the least memorable ones!

On my CD the 3rd track is DEAD HEAT.., between "telling tales "and "hail"...may be you just have the vinyl album ?
