I really enjoyed this song. I grew up as a radio kid, recording songs on cassette and making mix tapes.

Radio kids has been haunting me since I first heard it from when I wake up in the morning to when I fall asleep. Thank you for this beautiful, bittersweet piece of incredible art.

I find myself coming back to this song a lot. I saw Strand of Oaks play a free show in Cincinnati last year and they played this twice (once during sound check). At one point they let this apparently local musician play a part of their set, and played some of his songs with them. Wish I could say more about him, there was some bleak subject matter but all in all the performances were beyond real, beyond passionate. This dude was going to have a surgery that may have rendered him unable to perform again. Top to bottom this show was priceless and the emotion was high, the intimacy just unique among my concert going experience in general. The vibes that night were positive, just all about the music. Not like some shows at that type of venue where folks just show up to drink. Good times.

This reminded me of The Psychedelic Furs. A couple of other comments said the Replacements, but more the Furs for me, mostly because of something in his voice.

I know I'm going to get death threats for this but I thought it was an old Goo Goo Dolls track at first. I mean that as a compliment. But I bet others feel the same but don't want to admit it....and I can't really fault them for that....I'm regretting my memorializing that thought forever in the way of a KZbin Comment.

@PatchTM9837 жыл бұрын
Gotta admit, music like this pisses me off. Because when I listen to songs like this, and especially goshen, the passion behind it is palpable. I scour hundreds of hours of new tracks over the years just to find one that communicates this same kind of powerful, honest emotion without gimmicks or pretense -- it's just raw and laid bare. And whenever I do stumble upon them, on rare occasions, I always discover that the band is either overlooked or underappreciated. It's like someone below commented how it reminded them of The Replacements, another band that wasn't understood and never got the respect they deserved until it was too late. I don't quite hear the similarities musically myself, but the same spirit is definitely there. It's a kind of magic that few people seem to appreciate. I don't understand it and I don't think I ever will, but i'm always glad when I find it. Tim, maybe you would read something like this and think it's silly or over exaggerated, but I hope you understand how important this kind of music means to some of us. And considering the implied meaning in this song, I have a feeling that you do. Music like yours is a canteen of water to people dying of thirst. Play it and make it as long as you can. Those people will always be grateful.

That is a compliment. We all know the Goo Goo Dolls put out some excellent songs, but something about them made it impossible to ever admit I liked some of their stuff. Probably a lot of reasons, from their look and style, to the fans they attracted. But I'm no music snob, if it sounds good, I'll listen, and then just deny it and say they suck!

Sorry for my ignorance. I didn't realize this is 1 person. I erroneously called it a band, "these guys". I watched the Tiny Desk and saw. This dude is F#cking Talented! This song has a non-pretentious Goo Goo Dolls feel to it. Sorry, but that's what it reminds me of. A non-pop non-over produced version of a Good Goo Goo dolls track.
