Man, your English is impeccable! Nice to see someone playing some DM riffs on these, most videos are djent which I don't play much, really interested in picking one of these up.

thanks man! doing my best, glad the language got noticed too :) I'm mostly into death metal so you can expect more of that here on my channel :) (perhaps you'd like to check my EP - Shibito "Audio Vandalism"). And djent is usually not my thing too., even though some players are killer and they definitely know their way around dialing the guitar tone.

oh and yeah, if you're into traditional 6-string guitars and don't really tune them that low (or plan to buy thicker strings) this one is definitely worth considering. I mostly use 7 and 8 strings, but I'd definitely go with essential if I wouldn't need that additional string.

@@JakubDiegoTokaj I will check it out man! Definitely, some amazing players in the djent space but not so great to listen to all the time for me. I have tried one Ibanez 7 String but couldn't really get used to it so the 6 actually suits me perfectly.

Best Reveiw I've seen for the Essential,so far. In 2019 I asked for normal 25 1/2 in.frets on their not yet released Tempered Tuning fret guitars.Glad to see we can finally get straight frets in a 25 1/2 in.scale.I have a pre-order from Sweetwater Music.Going to be Plek-ed.Can't wait to get that.Had a limited run Burl top,Mahogany body&neck Strandberg 6 string with Fishmans.Never should have let that 1 go.And 1 with Suhr pickups.Been playing since 1971.Cleaner to mid-distortion.You can Pull a lot of tones out of these guitars.I think Strandberg will get more people playing their guitars,because of the standard frets on the Essential.Agree with you about the Heavy guitars.I like the weight of the Strandbergs. Thanks man! I'm glad you enjoyed and found it useful. The one you're mentioning sounds really rare, especially these days when the majority you can get have rather simpler looking maple tops usually. The essential line seems to be a great move, hopefuly their top-end range will end up having regular scale guitars too. I'm curious how the 7-string (and 8) essential will end up looking. Jesus dude!!! You wrote that song??? It’s fckn awesome! Great mixing/production too. You’ve sold me on this boden essential. I know it’s got some nice clean tones and you’ve just showed it kills with balls to the wall riffage too 👊🏻

So far I have three tracks on the EP (available everywhere) but I'm working on more and I'm hoping to record and start releasing some stuff in the coming months. Not gonna lie, these kind of comments highly motivate me :) I appreciate it a lot.

Oh hell yeah Shibito! Awesome review, never been that much into Strandberg, but it comes mainly from the fact that prices were way over my comfort zone, great knowing that there is a "budget-ish" version right now and I completely trust in your judgement so I might just have been tempted :D Little shame that there is no 7 string version, but maybe it's just a matter of time, probably depends on sales of this one and demand from the people (I would be very interested :D). I just got the boden prog. It deff is wayyyy more expensivr than it should be but i really like the fanned fretts

Totally! Having a regular scale 7-string option in this price range is a great idea. Imho it's bound to happen, we just have to wait.

Just got the same guitar and I agree it is a fantastic Strandberg. I was a little skeptical after having multiscale on my other Strandbergs (and I love it), but straight frets with the EndurNeck feel great. I am not as surprised as you on the stainless steel frets - I would expect stainless steel on a guitar around the $1000 mark. This is a lower grade steel than the higher end Strandbergs, but that is fine. I agree on the pickups - they are actually quite good. Not quite in the realm of the Suhr pickups that come on the Prog NX but very good nonetheless. It is also $1300 cheaper than the Prog NX, so some compromises are expected! The pickup switching is interesting - 1. Bridge Series Humbucking 2. Bridge Series Humbucking + Neck Outer Coil 3. (Bridge Series Humbucking + Neck Outer Coil in parallel) in series with Neck Inner Coil 4. Neck Inner Coil 5. Neck Series Humbucking BTW - Meranti is most like mahogany.

I honestly feel these guitars could be appreciated more in extreme metal music, if it wasn't for the fact that there's so much of the prog/djent content with them. Not that it's bad, but I have to agree there's way less death metal content on these axes.

It would probably add like 200-300 dollars more to the price though which at that point might as well get a boden standard

I just got mine yesterday, I like the pickups, I don't love them. I find the treble is very "trebly or tinny" and the mid is lacking.

Guess it depends on what you're looking for but I totally get it. How about the rest of the guitar? How do you like the neck and the new bridge?

@@JakubDiegoTokaj Necks good, frets are good, my first strandberg, theres an issue with one of the saddles, strandberg customer support said its a known issue so they are sending me out 5 new/saddle tuners, their customer supports really good

@@ewanbyrne Something must've been missed during the QA check. Glad they helped you out. You need to try their other guitars, I find their trademark multiscale ones the best I played from all the multiscale guitars.

Have you played 6 string multiscale Strandberg? I am wondering whether the multiscale makes a diifference/contribute for 6 string guitars or shall i just go for the Essential. Cheers

I did, I tried the NX-6 metal. Although the scale difference with that one was the smallest from their line-up as it was 25 on the treble side and 25,5'' on the bass side. Not really that noticeable imho. Some might probably say that the shorter scale on the treble side makes bending a bit easier, but I haven't found any problems with that on the regular scale to be fair. If I'd go with the multiscale 6-string, I'd pick one that would have 26 on the bass side. And if I'd have to pick one with 25-25,5'' scale, I'd probably pick one with a trem, different pickups (fishmans perhaps) and/or some cool top with different finish. If multiscale is the only thing preventing you from picking either the essential or a different one, then I'd advise to test them if possible, and if not - I'd go with essential, mainly due to its lower price.

@@JakubDiegoTokaj It will be interesting to compare it with the essential. The only thing stopping going for the essential is that I have fomo about the multiscale. :)

@@insaneclownface well, depending on what style you're into the most, I'd probably suggest to just go with a multiscale 7-string :) these are killer, and if you'd like to downtune sometimes, then 26,25-25,5'' makes more sense than 25,5-25'' to me.
