STRANDED IN THE PERUVIAN DESERT || WE FOUND AN OASIS

It has been many years since I lived in Peru, but don’t spend too much time in Lima because it is gray, foggy and dangerous (lots of pickpockets and snatch and run thieves, don’t wear gold jewelry). Areas in the city that are nice to see include Miraflores (parks along the cliffs, good restaurants) and Barranco (nightlife). For food, make sure you try ceviche and papas huancaina. Over 6,000 varieties of potatoes are grown in Peru so Freddie should have lots of veggie options. Im sure you’ve done your research, but in addition to seeing Machu Picchu (one of the most beautiful vistas on Earth, IMHO), I recommend flying over the Nazca Lines, visiting the Floating Islands of Lake Titicaca, and cruising the Amazon River (pink river dolphins, caymans, capybaras, and beautiful birds). I’d also recommend seeing the condors in the Colca Canyon and the vicuñas in Pampas Galeras, if you have the time! So many wonderful things to see in Peru, you’ll need to schedule another trip!

Hello from Ontario, Canada. My daughter studied Spanish at the University de Cusco in Cusco. She lived with a Peruvian family while studying and travelling around. She loved her trip. She was also told that Lima was dangerous. She hardly went out to visit . The tour guides stories and warnings scared her. But she visited everything else outside of Lima.
