In this video we show you what happens when there are no RV parks open and Hotels are costly. We had to find a hotel that would allow Dogs, so our choices were limited. We also spend a little too much money on wine at a Harvest Host in Buhl, Idaho. But we had a great time!

We boondock a lot on BLM land or national forest with our jeep, Taxa Woolybear and rooftop tent. We will Airbnb or hotel every week or so just to do laundry, hang out and recharge.

Remember to always review city parking ordinances for street parking. I stayed in Jackson WY just past the boundary to city center, no ticket. Time for lots of walking or small foldup electric scooters. Watch Big Truck Big Travels series on Alaska. They boondocked all over Alaska. E bikes plus Jeep. But parked Jeep periodically. Second trip, used old guide book & got new one on trip but it was a fantastic series to watch! Yea early! Just saw this today!

Love Jackson Hole. Stayed there in a hotel a couple of years before RVing to go to the Tetons and Yellowstone. We love Harvest Hosts but can be expensive but the way we look at it is that you are going to consume the product anyway…just maybe a wee bit more than you would normally. Did a grass fed beef farm in Maryland and walked away with $150 in grass fed beef. But it was awesome.

How fun you guys are. I will not stay at Harvest Host unless we have no choice. Helen at our last one , at a Swiss Farm, Helen bought Steaks,Cheese, Milk, Goat milk and more. About $150 ... and they parked us right by the cow feeding bins, way too stinkey... We ended up giving all the food and milk away..😂😂😂

Jackson Hole is pretty amazing. We visited there when we were at the Tetons. Agree HH are not free- nor are they cheap! We like the experience they provide anyway. That's so stupid that they wouldn't let you pay to just stay in the parking lot, but you could get a room and park in the parking lot. Just stupid 🤦🏻‍♀️. Nice HH - glad you didn't go overboard on the wine 😂🤣😂.

The price of motel rooms have gotten a little crazy...but it is what it is. We live in Canada and as residents we are only aloud to bring back 2100 ml...which is 2 - 1 liter or 2-40 Oz bottles. Most agents are cool if your honest and being American the rules might be different. Either way they won't take it , the worst sernario is they charge you duty on the overage...but I'm thinking not. Safe travels folks 😊😊

In our experience the agent was nice and asked only a few questions which made it a very uneventful crossing. We are currently still in Canada and from what we've experienced so far we will definitely be coming back. Thanks for watching and safe travels to you as well. 😊

We have not tryed harvest host. We are at Barkcamp State Park. We should have brought bikes or extra car as camping spot are a few miles from lake. Very beautiful are you all are in. Safe travels.

We hear you about not having a tow vehicle. Fortunately for us our friends have a truck and they don't mind driving most days when we adventure out. On the other hand we absolutely love being able to pull over and boondock. We could have not done that with our large class A towing our jeep.

This year we have to really think and budget ourselves we have realized we so spend a lot at these amazing harvest host but it is a place to sleep and yes drinks and sometimes enough for a month..lol! We love HH wineries, almost always beautiful scenery and saves having to stop at a liquor store.😁 We were there at the antler arch (can't believe there was not an inserted clip of the Clint Eastwood movie, you're slipping Chris) during our 3 month TENT camping trip in '81.

Yes, HH is not free, but we still love it. Too bad you didn’t have time to find boondocking. Around Jackson is some of the best spots, especially Upper Teton.

I have been debating whether or not to join Harvset Host. One of my fears when traveling is not having a place to stay because we always leave a day before we are supposed to. My wife and sister-in-law are worse than children. lol I will look into it now. This place looks amazing. We generally have no issue supporting the local community where ever we are staying. We like to experience the local culture when possible. This looks like a great way to experience places we may have never considered. I find it hilarious that you were both a little tipsy, but at least you were walking. lol. BTW, we have never stayed in a hotel while traveling in out RV. Because I have fear of not having a place to stay overnight, I lay out our travel plans normally a year in advance. I think this is why Harvest Host is intriguing.

We really enjoy Harvest Hosts when we are driving to and from our main destination. We will be driving to Alaska next year so we would probably go 2-3 nights a a HH then stop at a campground. We also prefer our RV to a hotel. Looking forward to watching your Alaska adventure!😊

I can not imagine staying at a hotel if our camper was available. Next time you are in Jackson, have a few at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar. It's awesome. I agree..... HH are the best!!!! Enjoy your travels.

Great video! Wow! The campground there in Wyoming isn’t open until May 1 that is strange. But glad you found a hotel. And I would have done the same not knowing the area a not boon docked. First, welcome to Idaho. It is still winter in eastern Idaho, so snow and cold are always possible through June. Second, have you folks read about the new rules for bringing dogs back into the states after August 1st? If not, you best read up. Also, the Alcan is closed at the moment, so make alternate plans.

Thank you! Idaho is way more beautiful than we could have imagined. Yes, we've been made aware of the new changes for bringing pets back into the US. We will have to get more paperwork from our vet back in MD due to us crossing back in September. Funny you mentioned the Alcan being closed. I "Katrina" have a cousin who drives a truck in Canada and keeps us updated on alternate routes just in case it closed when we go to cross over. Thank you so very much for the heads up. Yes, we have his paperwork with us. The funny thing is they didn't ask for it going into Alaska. We've been told there is a new policy and you need to have even more paperwork for your pets going in and out of the US.

Our class A is back in Maryland. We plan on switching back to it next Spring. We purchased our used little class C specifically for this trip.
