Adrenaline Misfits definitely feels like the monkeys paw of games, where you get a title with an art style and character design that resembles cool early 2000s extremeness, but the only issue you got to play it through Kinect.

A proven fact is Sonic Free Riders, which was previously said to be a bad game just for being on Kinect, but when Rei-San's team created the "patch without kinect", the opinion of several people changed to say that this The game is decent and fun, some even say it's much better than Zero Gravity. Captain Smiley gives me the vibes of an American version of a Grasshopper Manufacture/Suda51 game. A game from a team who didn’t fully care about getting high reviews or sales, and just making something they thought would be cool. The fact that there’s a contra title made by the blazblue and guilty gear people, and it wasn’t that successful is a major bummer, this could’ve led to something cool and new for the franchise, and considering the state it’s in now probably would’ve been the better timeline.

To answer Rebeltaxi's question, the only games i can think of that still do the whole "save data from one game gives you stuff in another" thing are Nintendo ones, having Persona and Dragon quest save data on your switch gets you spirits for them in Smash, with Kingdom hearts save data you get more music for the Kingdom hearts stage in smash and having save data for other Pokemon games gives you Darkrai and Shaymin in Pokemon Legends.

I miss Captain Smiley! I still have the theme on my old Xbox 360. Can't say Sabat has done another role quite like that superhero and his sidekick. Once asked him at a con whatever happened to the character, and I think he said he recorded some lines for a mobile game Twisted Pixel had been working on. I don't know, might've been a guest character. Wish it would come back though, the time is better than ever for a goofy superhero parody.

Captain Smiley actually looks really fun! Very much that early to mid 2000's vibe but this would've absolutely have been something I'd bought back then. Slightly similar with the 4th wall breaking humor is a little-known JRPG called Okage, which I had on PS2, so the whimsical humor of Mr. Smiley would've fit right in with me if my family had a 360. Wide load games (the company behind hail to the chimp) fascinate me because all their games have a unique sense of humor. They are also behind the cult classic Stubbs the Zombie and a fun Clue-esque game called Guilty Party which was sadly released for the Wii at a time when the market for party games was so oversaturated, not even the fact that Freakin' DISNEY was publishing could help it stand out. Both potential topics for future videos.

Quite a few games did the save data stuff on PS2. Jak X: Combat Racing made large use of it for unlockables. With Jak 1, 2, or 3 saves it would unlock Jak from those respective games as a racer. Then if you linked your PSP & copy of Daxter it would unlock the characters from that game and a new car ( it also would unlock stuff in Daxter on PSP itself).

I remember being in middle school, reading about Comic Jumper in Game Informer and always wanted to play it, but never got the chance to. No wonder it reminds me of Splosion Man, since both games were made by the same people, lol. Never knew that. Splosion man was a favorite of mine back then.
