You are pretty solid at diagnosing and solving issue Steve, but a few thoughts on your soldering style: First, CLEAN YOUR TIP!!!! Frequently. Your know those stands with the brass scrub pad in them? That is the way, and perhaps consider one of those little containers of soldering tip refreshing from time to time. Second - you leave a LOT of carbon behind, what temp are you using? Perhaps experiment with a lower temp? Finally, tooth brushes are so much better at cleaning flux residue - nice stiff bristles. And finally, a question, what flux are you using, cause I need to get me some of that! Stay excellent, Steve!

I’m glad I caught your video. I just sat down to recollect my thoughts as I’ve been also having one of those days. I just spent 2 hours ripping my shop apart looking for my butane soldering iron which I’ve had been using for close to the past 10 years. I figured that’s ok, I have an extension cord I’ll just use the electric. Another hour later??? Can find it… Where do these things go? It’s driving me mad. Unfortunately for me,my boys have moved out of the house several years ago so I don’t even have anyone to blame😢,lol. Thanks for the vid and the smile,hopefully our day will turn around 👍

Hi Steve. This thing was so simple, I never thought you would get a whole video out of it and yet you still made it entertaining. I know you do it for the drama effect but it must be frustrating to fully reassemble something just to see it still doesn't work. For some reason, I thought you might actually test it before you reassemble it. I did like the music at the end of the video. It was like the closing titles to a movie. That must take ten times longer than the actual repair.
@krahwinkel9503 Жыл бұрын
An ordinary barrel jack would do the trick - I don't know why everything needs to be USB nowadays (regardless which type).
@PhilipBryden Жыл бұрын
You're practically guaranteed 5V with a USB plug. With a barrel jack, people will plug anything in that fits. I'm thinking USB removes the need for a 5V regulator to be installed and other protective components.
@Bolli1983 Жыл бұрын
because you have like 5 USB C chargers around the house anyway that will work, your power bank can do the trick and we don't need 5 sizes of barrel chargers this way. I don't miss the days where one drawer in your house contained a collection of 50 different barrel chargers in 5 different sizes, all with varying voltage.
@ItsMrAssholeToYou Жыл бұрын
You're joking, right? For the one disadvantage of robustness, you still come-out way ahead by using a standardized, universal and ubiquitous power source. I honestly find your opinion a little baffling.

Makes a change to see you fix something simple and you still made it look difficult 😁 For my devices that charge via USB, USB C , Micro USB ect I use the magnetic charge cables where a device end comes off.
