Film Noir films are wonderful to immerse yourself in. With far less money to make a movie due to war, & financial depression, film makers had to be more creative with special effects. Strange Illusion had a very detailed script, which really engages the viewer. Without spoiling the end, you're still left with some questions, that needs your own imagination to complete the story.

One reason I love these old movies is when the night scenes look really dark, with just enough moonlight to tell what's going on. Nowadays there's always stagelights that make the whole production look fake as can be !

I enjoyed this movie so much. Thank you. It brought back a memory of a dream I had years ago. One night I had a dream I was in a room without walls and it was completely white as if I was in a cloud. But there was a baby basinet in the middle of this white. I was worried and so sad about the baby. As I went close to the basinet my dad was standing beside me. He said don’t be sad because the baby is well taken care of. The next morning when I went to work I forgot about the dream, but I got a phone call from my best friend’s husband. He told me his wife, my friend, had a miscarriage the night before. She was 7 months pregnant, My dad had died 5 years before. He stood beside me in my dream to comfort me and I knew her baby was, as he said, is well taken care of.

Thank you so much for that . I was in deep dark place after being a victim to an assault -being held -left for dead. closer i was to not getting back i would have a dream: my adult son would be a naked child about 7 ahead of me silently pointed the way we were walking in water in nearly darkness -in the forest- knew somehow i knew in the dream and when i awoke i was going get me back . in awake life could not get out -could not see humans for nearly year. -only to God could i speak. would only get out in the night darkness .in the forest -like in the dreams - with God 's help only not drugs or humans it was 15 year ago. It was medicine to my soul /and body ! you get strong even in your 50's hiking in high country rocky mts.

James Lyndon (Paul Cartwright) was 22 when this 1945 movie was made. He began as a child actor in the 1930s with one early starring role in 1940 in Tom Brown's School Days. He worked in movies and all major TV series and helped create 77 Sunset Strip and M*A*S*H. Now 96 (2019), Lyndon continued to act well into the 1980s in shows such as Lou Grant, Simon and Simon and St Elsewhere. Although rarely out of work in his long career he never became the major star that he early career suggested he might.

Thanks for nice old films. サナトリウムだったんですね。あの鏡はマジックミラーでこちらからは鏡だが,向こう側からこちらが監視できる。ぞっとする場面です。In the sanitarium room, his own jacket being hung on the mirror, suddenly some figure appears to stand beyond the one-way mirror. So frightening! I found many such surveillance systems used from scene to scene. that kind of society is really all horrible. そういう場面が多数取り入れられた興味深い映画でした。内容はもちろん面白いですが,監視社会の恐怖を感じることができました。感謝です。この時代に鉄枠のゲートが自動だったのには驚きです。

@@billwilliamson9842 Sexual assault is real. The difference is today we are talking and doing something about it. In those days it was not talked about or was simply alluded to. But it did go on as it always has. This is my point and it is progress for BOTH genders, but it is a particular benefit to women in general.

That beautiful mansion was another loss to LA. It was torn down out of greed to subdivide the estate for lesser mansions. That house was a true treasure. We only saw the outside. The insides were a stage set. The real inside of the house was baronial. It even had a pipe organ. So sad how we waste beautiful hand made things in America. We don’t give them a chance to become 800 years old as in Europe.

Great flick for a small and shoestring B or C production. Agree there hands down. That said, I would hate to see a remake. These days they would include CGI and all manner of mindless violence. One point this movie makes that is as true today as it was in Plato's time, there are users and people that are (or can be), used. Point or moral of this story "love whom you want BUT watch whom you marry. Stay alert and look for signs, but be happy.

The acting wasn't that great in the beginning - I dunno' seems like they were reading script without much feeling. However, it became more real as it moved along. I enjoyed it! Your channel is great - finds these unheard of classic movies and I so enjoy them. Thanks again and again for these gems from days gone by.

No show of the naive mother at the end? Many a woman have destroyed their children by hastily remarrying the wrong men.

Not sure why they put this one under the genre of film noir?, I am kind of a film noir buff and fan of the Crime Drama, I probably would have labled this one differently.....

I think it is, although with a teenage lead. Shadows and light are there, a feeling of deep mistrust and paranoia (the new man in the family is the murderer of the father - or does the boy just make this up in his mind?). And Edgar G. Ulmer, the director of DETOUR.

" Mother"? "Father"? Are they trying to exploit James Lydon's portrayal of the "Henry Aldrich" movies character?
