You know what, George? I agree with you! Change careers! Chasing a good story is *not* worth getting stranded on a barren island, startled by ghosts, having your window tapped upon by vampires, and being locked in ghost town jail cell! Maybe you should podcast restaurants or some shit! (PS: Congrats on your milestone subscriber count!)

Confused me for a second, I didn't realise this was a part two. I thought it was a re-upload. Also, that ending, I want to say I called it when I saw TAK in the text last episode. I love the "Assuming he survives" in the coda this episode. Honestly maybe it's because I was in a different part of that same desert when the book first came out, but Desperation is my favorite work that King wrote in that era. Felt like putting on a familiar shoe only to find too late there was a scorpion hiding within.

I found this paperback book on a train - someone either forgot it or were done with reading it (or they didn't like it). I read up to the part where there was something evil called "tak" in a mine then I had to get off. I left the book behind. To be honest I don't remember much of the story but I'm not really a big Stephen King fan.

@TruthSurge8 ай бұрын
@@stephenkingbookclub1054 no, I actually have a Blue Yeti I believe it's called. I really don't know why I bought it other than it was USB and it was another mic in case BOTH of mine died, I suppose. I have these CAD M179 mics that are condenser and $175 and they sound very clear and have low noise so you actually capture a pretty accurate image so if you want that kind of dark or warm sound, you can still do it but you just have to watch the high end and not let those S sounds or CH especially get too harsh. I think most of the stuff I have done is on the bright side. Always look on the bright side of recording. du du. dududududud. oh. But I haven't used that Yeti mic. Been collecting dust ever since I plunked $75 into it. :( It sounded okay. Not as bright and it has noticeable extra noise than the CAD M179 so I just don't use it but it's nice to have a spare even tho I have a spare M179. Way I see it, if my mic captures accurately, I don't need 15 different mics. Just alter the sound in post if I want a different sound. You can always dumb it down later but you can't get back clarity if it's muddled on the front end.

Good lord the story of desperation and regulators is so messed up. King really knows how to write up horror.
@RightsForZombies4 ай бұрын
I have to admit when I began reading The Regulators I didn’t think I’d get into it as Westerns aren’t really my thing. I hadn’t read Desperation but had seen the adaptation. I was blown away by how much I loved it. Part of the thrill of going to the op shop/thrift store is finding old Stephen King books I don’t already own even though I’m trying desperately to stick to kindle because I have too many books and not enough space. It’s rare to find books I don’t already own, but it’s a thrill when I do. The Regulators was the most recent, I found it last year. I wish I enjoyed audiobooks more, but unless I’ve already read the book I’m listening to they often frustrate me with the slower pacing and with not being able to re-read sentences and dwell on the language at my own pace. I’m a fast reader but I do love scouring the text as I go at my leisure.

COLLIE Entragian. Yet another choice reminder of Stephen King's problem with poor ole Lassie dogs...I know I mentioned this here before, but here's a refresher of King's collies... 1.Blaze, Bowie's Collies: A disreputable breeder whose dogs are "cowardly and vicious", except for their pack leader, Randy, who is just plain vicious. Every day, Randy bluff charges Blaze while the young man cleans the dog runs, until one day he attacks for real.. 2. Apt Pupil, unknown neighbour's collie pup. This puppy topples a ladder, causing an old man to break his back. The man winds up in a hospital bed next to fugitive Nazi war criminal Kurt Dussander, at whose camp, Patin, he was a prisoner. 3. Gerald's Game, the former Prince. A starving collie mix, probably abandoned by his asshole owners at the end of the summer. He makes a meal of the trapped woman's deceased husband. 4. Somebody remind me which King story or novel has the protagonist thinking with exasperation at the whole notion of Lassie. What kind of parents would leave their child's care up to a collie? He sounds (well, "thinks") all kinds of genuinely aggravated lol. There might be one or two more Ive overlooked, but to SK this quadruple collie owner must ask, why the hate?
@AceMoonshot8 ай бұрын
lol. I never connected those dots. I thought there was another in Laurie. But that was a border collie mix. And she was a good girl.

@daniellewillis27678 ай бұрын
@brittanybaiibee what kind of collie, and more importantly, did s/he die? Some of King's most harrowing deaths happened to dogs...the worst being the cocker spaniel puppy Patrick Hockstedder locked in his Amana for days until it died. That bothered me so much more than when he smothered his baby brother in his crib.
@brittanybaiibee8 ай бұрын
Luckily I think it's a win for the collies on this one (not sure on exact breed), no sudden deaths or misfortunes from what I can remember, just remember a dog named Lassie and it being a collie in the book owned by a non-cross over character, mostly unimportant to the story and SK's works. @@daniellewillis2767
