Great video. This is a wonderful video of this barge and tug boat pusher on the great lakes. I am very happy you like to live in Duluth and that area. I was born in northeastern Wisconsin it was a wonderful and great place to grow up. However, I do not miss the late fall into the early Spring. It is way too cold for prolonged time periods for me. All it took was one winter in Southern California in the military. It was wonderful to see the snow line in the mountains north of Los Angeles. All we have to do is get on a plane to Colorado or Lake Tahoe for snow. We just get into our car and less than 6 hours later we are in Mammoth Lakes at 8,000 feet elevation. The top of the mountain is over 11,050 feet skiing in the mountains in the west is spectacular. I remember skiing in northeastern Wisconsin on ice in most of the year. Driving through snow storms and ice was many times terrifying trying to get traction or stopping. The results of salt in the streets destroys very expensive cars and trucks in a few years. I / we have two cars over 10 years with no rust on them. Here we can get over 200,000 miles on our cars with no rust. There are many great things about living in the north I miss.

Hey Mike, and ALL the Global Boat Friend Nation, from a warm Bismarck where it was over 80 degrees here today, with light winds. Missed the live feed again and surprised to see the beautiful fall day in Dtown with calm winds no less. There is nothing like a fall day in Dtown with the beautiful sunset, and calm wind as it just don’t get any better than that for sure. Interesting vessel coming in here as makes many trips during the season and is low riding with a full load of something. Ambiance to the max with the reflections of the water and the light at the end of the canal just beautiful, and that sunset you could hang that picture on the wall! Mike this was one of your best,and came thru 5x5 in hi def. Really nicely done…….

Great live post! I love these tug/barge combos. My favourite is the Presque Isle. The tugs look so neat when they are detached that you wonder how they stay afloat with the bridge so high up and the bottom so small. I would love to see them in a dry dock to see how they are constructed so that they fit like a glove to the barges. I love the engineering aspect of these big ships.

I’ve always thought the same thing about the tug design, it’s amazing how they fit so perfectly with the barges. @@vibewithmike Edmond Fitzgerald was the President of Nothwestern Mutual Life Insurance for many years. He was also part of the local business community that got the Brewers baseball team here. My two older sisters worked at NML their whole lives. When the Edmond Fitzgerald sank, it hit Milwaukee hard, as many people here are connected to Lake Michigan in some way. This is an actual look at the dock that the Fitzgerald left from before embarked out on that infamous journey.
