I honestly just think Brenner really felt like eleven was his child in a twisted way and he really just didn't want to lose her so he let that and his chaotic toxic ways get the best of him again to get more time with eleven but knew she was already strong enough and could make decisions for herself and to save her friends and never asked to be back with him in the first place, so eleven has every right to still grieve but also be angry just like many people whose abusers die especially if they say sentimental things at the end but theres a part of all of us thats gotta feel bad for the guy and he really was trying to save her at the end.still doesn't make his abuse ok tho

Yea 100%! I think he's good at the very core but his morals arent on point, at least he semi redeemed himself by helping her a bit lol

@@OffTheRip Oh, no doubt there. That's where the emotion came from I believe. To me he was just stating facts about El, but the feelings and emotion underneath were all about his feelings.

@@misterb6416 It's definitely about both of them. El and Will are very similar in that they're both outcasts who frequently feel like they don't belong anywhere and Mike is the one who always has made them feel like they belong, which is why they both love him so much. Will's misfortune is that Mike only loves one of them romantically and it isn't him. But yes, you just had to see the first couple episodes this season to see that Will talking about El being lost without Mike was very true. Look at how she lights up when Mike arrives and she hugs him like she's clinging to him for dear life. She was using their relationship as a crutch to get her through the bullying in California.
