In August 2021 when the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, Pakistan was more than elated. The Pakistani security establishment thought it had gained strategic depth in the neighbouring country and had ousted India from there.
The Pakistani joy didn’t last long. If the Pakistanis thought the Afghan Taliban would play second fiddle, they were stunned to the core. The TTP that shares a deep ideological bond with the Afghan Taliban has unleashed a wave of terror attacks on Pakistani soil and refuses to be cowed.
Political instability and the consolidation of terrorist organisations in Afghanistan pose a direct threat to US $60 billion plus worth of Chinese investments in CPEC projects in Pakistan, including the Gwadar port in Balochistan.
In this interview with StratNews Global Editor-in-Chief Nitin A. Gokhale, former Intelligence Officer R Kumar and Shalini Chawla, a Distinguished Fellow at the Centre for Air Power Studies, share their views on what went wrong with the Pakistani Army’s calculations, the Chinese engagement with the Taliban and how India should deal with the changed ground realities in Afghanistan.

Dear Sir/ Madam Jail Hind and good day. I am an Afghan from Kandahar, thank you for your great analysis, after Taliban entered to Kabul Pakistanis has shared sweets everywhere and they congratulate each other for the Taliban success, Pakistanis were thinking Afghanistan is certainly their fifth Suba and the next step will be Kashmir they were thinking it is the time to use Afghan Taliban against India in Kashmir but their sweet dreams remain as dreaming, we believe that India was/is our god given friend and descent neighbor, but Pakistanis doesn’t understand it. We love Indian and wishing them many many successes and a lots of prosperity Namaste and Jai hind 🙏🌹🇦🇫❤️🙏

BROTHER India did more harm to Pakistan than what Pakistan did to India. India never accepted Pakistan as independent country that is what we call ' akhand baharat'. secondly your panel guys in the video are making fools no one else but themselves and Indians which Godi media has been doing ever since BJP party came to power. Let me remind you that I come from the same region where TTP is based in Pakistan i.e. Waziristan and that both TTP and Afghan Taliban have been created by ISI and they still operate under their instructions. Well what is their objectives, God knows that but imagine when U.S was in Afghanistan, so it was not possible that Pakistan would only support Afghan Taliban and kill US soldiers on routinely basis in Afghanistan while Pakistan would be in total peace situation. something had to be done, a little drama inside Pakistan needed to be created and that was TTP to tell the world that kindly don't blame us that we support Afghan Taliban, look we also are victims of terrorism of TTP. US and NATO's presence in Afghanistan was to de-nuclearize Pakistan from the Western side while from the Eastern side use India. Apparently Pakistan helped NATO while behind the scenes Pakistan fully supported all anti-American elements in Afghanistan to fight against them. So ISI simply replaced the biggest monster i.e. US + NATO with a lessor monster i.e. Taliban. now ISI will replace the lesser monster with something that suits them. You are Indian, so you must disagree but your intelligence officials know it very well. Stay blessed.

The geopolitics of Indian subcontinent kerp changing very often in every 3 to 4 decades. It so happened with partition in 1947, breaking of Pakistan into two in 1971, Taliban crushed in early part of this century, Taliban back in power with Pakistan support 2022, Bangladesh moving away from India and getting closer to Pakistan and Bangladesh loosing part of the territory to Arakkans and Afghan breaking away from Pakistan and getting closer to India. A full 360 circle in motion.

These are two extreme Islamist government, for India it is best to stay away as we cannot trust both of them. If Taliban win, the will start to shift a their focus to Kashmir and Indian if Pakistan win, they will start to divert Afghan attention to India. Best strategy is do what ever we can make sure they are on each others throat and we can use this window to get more intelligence and secure our brooders.

I believe if India has a democratic Pakistan it will be beneficial to India rather than make Pakistan unstable by India originally in Baluchistan and now in Afghanistan India is playing a negative role at the same time Pakistan has to reciprocate India by making Kashmir more stable. Actually a democratic Pakistan is not good for India. Whenever a democratic ruler is in control, Pakistan Army created trouble (for Ex. Kargil). This is because Pakistan Army does not want peace because a perceived threat from India will help Pakistan Army get lion share of funds and also control (to rule Pakistan directly or indirectly)

If you don't recognize the Durand line as an international border then why do you complain when Pakistani military treats Afghanistan as their fifth province. Either you accept that Afghanistan and Pakistan are two sovereign states separated by an international border or you accept that Afghanistan and Pakistan don't have an international border between them and it's fair game to claim territories across the Durand line. You can then try to extend Afghanistan's borders up till Indus river in Pakistan and Pakistan can try to make Afghanistan their fifth province. If you want to play this game then good luck to you. But then don't complain when Pakistan doesn't respect Afghanistan's sovereignty.
