I tried strawberries as an early project. It would be good to have another go using the many tips I have picked up since then and see the difference. The final white highlights did make a big difference on your painting, something I will try to get better at, thanks for all your help Paul.

Love your tutorials! On the first painting though, I thought I would warm up the two large berries with a glaze of orange before adding the details, and I would soften the right edge of the green berry. Fun subjects! 👍🏼

Love the painting of strawberries… my favorite fruit. It made me look up a painting that caught my attention at Mauritshuis in The Hague by a fairly unknown artist Adriaen Coorte Still life with wild strawberries. It looks like he also used white paint to make tiny highlights. Wild strawberries… fraise de bois… they taste even better.

Wow! Those strawberries look so real! Amazing how it comes together with the pastel marks. I love seeing all the paintings at the end. The sound effects are perfect! I was going to ask you what’s the fastest painting you’ve done. 30 minutes for the ice cream! Looks fabulous and yummy! Stay cool! Ohh yay some summer classics to paint this week! I would have definitely used the W&N Masking Fluid for the little seeds instead of trying with the pastel pencils or watercolor pencils. I’m wondering how or if colored pencils would work too? Also have you tried using a Derwent pencil extender for the small pastel pencil for the meantime. Always such wonderful & inspirational tutorials & challenges from you & Margot. 💕Hopefully you’re both enjoying & keeping cool during this warm summer season! We’re baking here in North Mississippi with extensive heat warnings 98 degrees Fahrenheit (36.6 Celsius) with a 110 degrees Fahrenheit (43.3 degrees Celsius). ☀️🔥😉 Enjoy your weekend!

Thanks Colleen - after a good start to summer .... it looks like it's all over it's about 60F today!!! cold and wet! Coloured pencils will work but they are not as opaque as pastel or watercolour pencils!

Mmmmmmmm scrumptious , yummmyy, so apt Paul with Wimbledon going on it only makes sense to paint strawberries. Strawberries and cream are very sought after at Wimbledon. 💓 Beautiful and so life like paintings. Loved all the details on the strawberries. And how to bring them to life. Icecream was amazing too. Especially the hand. I do struggle with hands in my drawings. 😐 Question : doesn't pastel pencils smudge ? I find them quite soft. I absolutely loved everyone of the Facebook ice cream paintings. Just smashing. And some with so much more in them. The face , the tongue, the buildings. All just WOW 😍😍😍 Thank-you for this delightful , refreshing tutorial. hi paul. brian from across the pond. "In 1922, a man called Stefano Arcari opened up an ice cream shop in Scotland at 99 Portobello High Street. He would apparently break a Flake in half and then place it in the ice cream to serve to his customers, taking inspiration from the shop's address for the ice cream's name". this is what i found on the internet re flake 99. thanks for another great video. was wondering if you grew your own strawberries? the rabbits and deer ate all of mine! cheers!
