Are there any substitutes for the unsalted butter , is vegetable or olive oil okay?

I know many people are making mochi without adding butter at all, so I think you can pass this step, but the dough might be a little different, maybe less stretchy or harder to work with. I'm not sure, I suggest to look through more recipes to be sure. As far as I'm aware very traditional mochi dough is made only with rice flour and water.
