That's exactly how we adopted our cat, haha. I was walking my dog and he just ran up SCREAMING. We walked with him for about 2 weeks and noticed he was looking worse and worse so we brought him to the vet and then my dog convinced me that we needed a cat. 😅

@@dianeleirer9878 I was wondering if Bubba was already taken to the vet or not, and it was confirmed on Instagram that he was! My first cat was a stray, and she was so social and clingy like a dog lol. You would have never expected her to be stray. But she was part of a stray litter and grew up with several neighbors feeding her. She realized that being friendly got her food and treats! But where I lived got very cold in the winter, so I ended up bringing her inside one day when it was getting quite cold. Took her to the vet the next day to get checked, and she was actually sick with a fever. Looking back, I wish I would have taken her in sooner ♥

Since Bubba can't be an indoor cat, they could set up a catio area for him with a sheltered bed so he could still 'move in' permanently. Maybe, eventually, the other cats will accept him into the family. 🤞

It isn't clarified in the video, but she already has an area set up for Bubba with food and shelter as she works with their vet to safely transition him into their home. She also has paid for Bubba's vet visits and flea/tick meds to make sure he's healthy and happy in the meantime!

People who are kind to animals make me happy! I'm also glad she wants to someday let Bubba inside. I currently have two cats, one from the street, and one abandoned by her previous owner. I agree that a catio is a great idea, but I wouldn't say Bubba can't be an indoor cat. I've had strays in my neighborhood who one day decided that they wanted to follow me all the way into my house after surviving on the street for who knows how long. Over the years one stayed for a little while, one never left, and some come and go as they please. They've all needed a trip to the vet, and a warm and comfortable place where they feel safe and loved! And I know cats can take a little while to get along, but it looks like he has bonded with Coconut, so let him in and see what happens. As long as the cat fighting/playing doesn't include a lot of vocals, (a little hissing is fine), things will be okay no matter what it looks like. I've learned cats make decisions by themselves, our job is to learn how to understand cat language, to love them, and to share our life with them. That cat knows where the good energy is!

Bubba doesn't even FLINCH when Coconut comes charging at him. I've seen plenty of cats and dogs get along with each other. But Bubba may be the most laid back cat I've ever seen!

But it takes time to not only introduce the cats to each other, but transition outdoor cats to indoors. On Instagram, she has confirmed that she is working with her vet to safely transition him indoors. She also has already paid for Bubba's vet visits and flea/tick meds to make sure he's healthy and happy in the meantime.

@@judy7827 Bubba is an outdoor cat. A cat that is used to being outside cannot be locked indoors. If he lives in the house and goes out anytime and can also be outside during the day, that's okay. I don't know how the climate is there. But in winter, when it's cold, the cat needs a warm shelter.

Yes, you can adopt him and feed him. You can set a safe place for Bubba to sleep in outside with food and water. Then slowly introduce him to your indoor cats....until they get use to it and accept Bubba. Obviously Bubba wants your dog and adopted your family. He deserve not only a friend from your dog, but love and furever home.

We have many cats, strays, abandoned and barn cats that have adopted us. A big family that pretty much get along. There might be some resentment to a newcomer but it soon melts. I think they realise they were new once too. Bubba is a special cat, please give him parasite treatment along with you others, good food, shelter and any vet treatment he needs. Look out for him. He will have a better life if neutered too and will integrate more easily. He is a wonderful friend to the dog and would be a great companion to all with help to integrate.

Thank you for your post. You are so correct regarding the things that should be done for Bubba. Until Bubba can be brought indoors, a catio or outdoor shelter should be built. Bubba looks great so someone must be feeding him. He also needs fresh water. This video made me wonder if Bubba has (had) a home somewhere. I appreciate you for caring about all cats. Until people get their cats, or other cats, spayed and neutered, the cat population will continue to become untenable. Thank you again for your support for cats 😻

@@marcelmoulin3335 Sort of depends on the cat. Some cats that started as outdoor or indoor/outdoor will never be happy being indoor only. I have a baby girl that I had to make indoor only, because she developed some allergy, a few years back and she still doordashes. I've started training her to be on a harness and that has helped. Well she still doordashes but now at least she doesn't RUN when I go get her! She does look daggers at me when I let out her brothers and sisters.

I really hope that some good, caring neighbour such as you are will let the kitty in their home, especially during winter, or al least, someone build a nice cozy little shelter for him, furnished with war, thick cozy blankets. Winters are very hard on stray animals. It is sweet to see how happy they are together. That is a VERY special cat to seek friendship from a neighbour's dog.

An absolutely adorable pair. I hope Bubba can join the family too. My childhood dog and a feral cat became best friends on walk. Our dog was so sweet, and it was like the cat could sense his goodness and knew she was safe. For years, the cat generally kept her distance from humans but would walk a few feet from our dog. As our dog began to age and start to lose his sight, the cat walked right next to him to make sure he was on a safe path. Sometimes she would even curl her tail around him for the entire walk to lead the way. The cat started to camp out in our back yard, and we were able to get her fixed, vaccinated and ear-tipped - and of course fed and shelter. After our dog passed away, she warmed up to my parents and finally let them pet her, and even sometimes would come in the house on cold days. The walks started in the early 2000s, and I am sad we never quite caught this animal magic on camera. Mama cat just recently passed away, very well loved, very old and well taken care of.

Their friendship is beautiful! I hope your cats can accept him and he can be officially adopted. Even with care from neighbours, living outdoors isn't easy. Especially when old age kicks in.

This is just adorable! I was going to say why he hasn’t come in and then I saw the other cats. Coconut and Bubba would get to actually cuddle if he was part of the family. He looks well taken care of though thanks to neighbours. I hope he has somewhere to go in bad weather!
