This performance is one of my favourites. The storytelling in this performance is amazing. The story is they lost the kid (he died). So they asked heaven to revive the kid but heaven rejected it. Then they asked the demon's help and demon asked them to exchange their lifes to the the kid's. So at the end skz died and the boy live. Majority of stays represent the kid to Hyunjin. That's make this performance more emotional. I hope you can understand my description because English is not my first language

The statue of the boy had the 8th ring that they had made during preparation on a chain around the statues neck. Felix, leeknow, seungmin and I.N go to make handmade rings at a jewellery shop. Yes the explanation is questioning what you would do for that someone you loved and cherished who is no longer with you. Would you make a deal with the devil to have them back, would you trade your life for theirs. The lads all died for that one soul and It was a representation on how they felt about Hyunjin not being there and dedicating to him without mentioning his name. Watch it again and take note of the statue, the chain with the ring and that the statue comes to life when you see the boy with his arms around Chan. The statue is no longer there in the background Ps. It was a heart they held in their hand. Also this particular song has a crazy vocal rang and the boys wanted to show off their vocal power also. Han is just insane. He sang the hardest parts while being main rapper. I stan. I love the comments of other groups watching. They were like "isn't he a rapper?" It's a song by BTOB and they said it's very hard song even for them. And they are like vocal kings.

Yeah I remember a while ago when I watched the 19 min “Han Jisung is the ace of aces” video and I was completely blown away. He was already my bias before I watched that video but afterwards I was even more impressed and in love with him. And I didn’t even think that was possible lmao

Seungmin and Han's vocals in the intro are amazing.CHANGBIN rapped endlessly. It was so cool I really like this stage among SKZ's Kingdom stages. It's a performance where you touch it emotionally

Han was the best performer out of all of them, they all worked hard but Han stood out to me the most. He is a rapper, a dancer, a singer/vocalist. He is an all-rounder and that's what I love about him. I love how he can do all of those things with his all. In the end I will always love StrayKids.

As other commenters have said, the meaning behind this stage makes it really important to stays- before their performance, they made eight rings, one for each member- if you look closely, one is around the statue's neck. The 'precious person' that they would make a deal with the devil to have back, that they would all sacrifice themselves for, is Hyunjin.

- You recalled five of the six Kingdom groups. The sixth was IKON. - I know I mentioned at some point that SKZ deliberately chooses gender-unspecified lyrics. What's cool is that they even did that here, when covering and reinterpreting someone else's song. It's originally a specifically het romantic concept. When discussing the song, they decided to change the concept from a breakup to a death and the other person from a female love interest into a "precious person." - If you look closely when Seungmin, Han, etc are near the boy's grave, you'll see that his grave statue has a ring around its neck. During Kingdom, SKZ went to a shop and made eight rings, one for each member, including the absent Hyunjin. That ring on the statue is the eighth ring -- Hyunjin's, their missing precious person. They did things like this throughout Kingdom, incorporating tiny details to include him in their performances without violating their prohibition to mention him or overtly acknowledge his existence. It was incredibly meaningful to STAY at the time as it was a subtle reassurance that maybe he wasn't gone for good. And now that we know he was with them in the dorms and watching Kingdom episodes with them, it's perhaps even more meaningful, as it means they weren't just sending these little messages of inclusion and love to him while he was away from them at his parents' house, but rather sitting right next to them as they watched what he'd been locked out of. - I loved every SKZ Kingdom performance, but "I'll be Your Man" and "God's D4," along with the Mayfly vocal unit (Seungmin - SKZ, Eunkwang - BTOB, Jongho - ATEEZ) cover of "Love Poem," will always be standouts in my mind. Kingdom was a months-long nightmare of stress, worry, streaming, fanwars, and Mnet's usual f*ckery, but the artists themselves were wonderful. All six groups gave fantastic performances, and the relationships and interactions between the groups were probably the highlight of the show. - An important side note is that the alternative title of "I'll be Your Man" is "Pray." And _that's_ the path SKZ took with the story -- mourning the boy at his grave, praying for the boy's resurrection, breaking into the heavens, being denied by and thrown out of the heavens, making a blood pact with hell/demons/the abyss instead, tearing down the heavens that denied their pleas, and then fulfilling that pact by trading their lives to resurrect the boy (this is why they all collapse at the end -- they die, and the boy is brought back to life in exchange). It's the story of their prayer and how they made it happen when the prayer was denied. (This isn't supposition. Some of us understood it from the performance, but a lot didn't, and SKZ directly explained it when asked.) Felix's interlude lines when he's channeling the demon/abyss sum much of it up: "The heavens retreat From the help you seek Forbidden negotiation You risk everything Two choices All you have to do is just pick Sacrifice your life with the abyss" - SKZ didn't change much of the original song other than a few lyrics and a few of the musical elements to make it a touch darker. Overall, though, it's pretty true to the BTOB original. Which was the point. This is a song that no one ever covers and even vocal legends BTOB themselves said, on camera, they weren't gonna do, because it's SO HARD, especially in the original key. So this was SKZ making a point: "We aren't just 'noise.' We aren't just rap. We can not only sing, but sing a song acknowledged even by the original artists, who are highly respected as vocalists, to be very difficult and vocals-focused." - Yes, the show itself will show a bit of the behind-the-scenes content, but the majority is instead available on SKZ's own channel as auxiliary videos. The bts content in the official Mnet broadcasts is much more limited and spread out. - You're right about the pressure to perform the song well enough to show respect to the original group, especially when that group are sunbaes. Additional pressure was there as well, though -- Peniel is one of the first friends 13-year-old foreigner Chan ever made when he came to Korea on his own. Peniel is one of the trainees who took fetus!Chan under his wing, helped guide and comfort him and show him the ropes, helped stave off some of his loneliness, and they're close friends to this day. So Chan, and by extension SKZ, was trying to do justice to his close friend's group, not just a sunbae group. (BTOB ended up basically adopting SKZ, btw. The boys took "hey, visit sometime" seriously and started inviting themselves over to hangout at BTOB's apartments, Eunkwang and Minhyuk still mention them or post about them sometimes, Peniel went to the Seoul concert and was loud enough to be individually heard screaming support for Chan when he was crying, and so forth.) - Yes, rewatching the performance several times will make it much, _much_ more understandable.

Wonderful analysis! 👏👏 I get emotional every time I hear this song. I introduced my elderly aunt to SKZ with this song and Love Poem. She loved them both and I was impressed with her understanding of IBYM (along with my added explanations in spanish), she enjoyed the trivia like Hyunjin's ring.

I love this answer. Over the months of Kingdom Stray kids made many new friends. They were respected by the more senior groups and strengthened friendships that they already amongst Ateez and the boys in particular. The comradeship between all 6 groups was fantastic to see. As much as it was stressful it was great for Stray kids as well as BTOB, Ikon, SF9, The Boyz and Ateez. I now listen to all of these amazingly talented groups. Enjoy your Kingdom Journey

I loved every performance I have seen from Kingdom but I honestly have to say that my favorite was the Mayfly group made up of members from Stray Kids (Lee Know, Felix, I.N) , Ateez( Wooyoung, San, Yeosang, Seonghwa, Yunho) and BTOB (Penial). It was really good.

the lyrics to this song is heart breaking too. it matched with the story very well here are some translated verses: "This despair that keeps growing, do you see it? I spread so this wailing voice will get louder So it reaches the sky" definitely my favorite stray kids stage on kingdom. it was a strong concept and strong performance. fun fact: during chan's part he got emotional during the performance and while singing he was trying to stop himself from crying and you can hear it, it matches perfectly with the concept too. i.n's voice crack at the end wasnt on purpose either but it added another layer of desperation and fit with the concept too

One of my absolute favorites, I think this and their blackpink performance are my top 2! I highly suggest you guys check out the Behind Kingdom episodes on Stray Kids channel! They’re SO GOOD and you do get to see a lot of the process of them creating the performance and back story, even in the studio! Just shows how hard they really worked and also how much thought they put into it, and you can check out the other performances you’ve already done if you enjoy it!

Now that the drama surrounding the production of the show is in the past, Kingdom really is a good time. There are such wonderful stages peppered throughout and some real growth for some of the groups, but I'll always have a soft spot for the unit performances where the groups got to team up with each other. Both the performances themselves and the behind the scenes interactions are still some of my favorite things to come out of that show.

This is one of my favorite Kingdom performances. But sadly the judges didn't get the meaning of it. I like the original version as well but SKZ gave it another dimension and deeper meaning. Han's vocals are to die for and the visuals, my god

This performance was fantastic! Glad you really enjoyed it! All the groups on kingdom killed it! I went in a fan of stray kids and came out a fan of all of them, currently obsessed with the boyz. I absolutely loved BTOBs version of back door, wish it was on Spotify, it’s so good. 2 other stand out performances were SF9 move, mayfly love poem. My favourite part of kingdom was watching the other groups reactions. One of my favourite songs right now is SKZ phobia, it’s a bside, would recommend! Also you gotta check out SF9 Trauma, such a good song!

I enjoyed this. My favorite performances are BTOB Backdoor, this one, Ateez Wonderland and SKZ Gods dududu. Mayfly (SKZ, ATEEZ and BTOB have got to be my go to performances. I love these. But the one that I love ultimately love the most is Mayfly vocal group Love Poem. This song is one for the record books. I wish I could buy this song by them. Beautiful.

For this round, the industry panel and other performers ranked this performance last. The theme was Reborn and I think the panel was expecting the song to be reborn in SKZ style. SKZ wanted to rebirth their image by singing a vocally challenging song, so they didn't make many changes. Since the songs which ranked higher this round made more changes to their songs, I think not Stray-kidzing (do you like my new verb?) the song was one factor that lowered their ranking. As far as the overall ranking, I think there were several factors to SKZ win. 1) If I remember correctly, each round was worth more than the previous round. While ATEEZ won the non-fan based portion of the vote 3 times, their wins were for rounds earlier in the show. 2) ATEEZ zigged when they probably should have zagged. Points for video viewing were allocated proportionately. By choosing a small acapella group as guests for the No Limit round and only incorporating a classical piece, they lost out on the extra views they could have had if they had incorporated a BP or BTS song. Ikon and SKZ both used BP which caused those videos to out perform the others by far. ATEEZ also kind of played it safe (IMHO) by using a classical piece. That strategy worked well for ATEEZ the first two rounds, but I suspect they would have gotten more votes by changing it up. Don't get me wrong it was a beautiful piece. SKZ, also, wisely made an interesting and humorous performance which was something no one else delivered (by that point in the show its nice to move away from all of the dark performances). SKZ getting a win on a performance later in the show, garnered more points than ATEEZ'S early wins. 3) Chance. Ryan Reynolds acknowledged SKZ performance (there was a cute back and forth) which caused people who like Deadpool/Ryan to view the SKZ's performance as well. 4) SKZ has the largest fandom, and many parts of the rank were determined by fan participation.There was voting on an app, video views the first few days, and in the last round, the number of streams for each song and live voting. It would have been difficult for anyone to have beaten them, even without their No Limit performances. On the one hand, I get that the reason mnet puts out these shows is to get views and letting fans participate keeps them viewing. On the otherhand, it puts groups that are less well-known at a huge disadvantage. In reality, everyone won because a lot of fans started stanning additional groups. Everyone's fan base grew.

I agreed with you from 1-3 but not 4 because SKZ would still have won without the votes. It was Round 3 that really pulled Ateez points down, tho they won both Round 1 and 2 the points were quite close. For the final round, they still would've won if SKZ had the same digital points as Ateez. All that without the 1000 points SKZ won from the intro excluded. In Round three Ateez had 0 points from other groups.

Maybe I have the wrong understanding about the voting system but I really do think point 4 is the biggest factor because if I remember correctly, a large portion of the points came from international fan votes? I think they separated local votes from Korea, and international votes which didn't make sense to me. And a large percentage of the points for each round came from those international votes. I watched kingdom as a Skz fan, but I also enjoyed everyone else's performances too. But it was kind of clear to me that in terms of international votes, Skz would have a large advantage which isn't their fault of course, it just made me question to voting system mnet set out. Not saying the international votes were the only reason but it's a big one to me. Anyway like you said, at the end of the day, all the group's got more exposure and we got all those wonderful performances🤗
