Someone ask before about what this genre was & I found this in the Stayville post-it library in case you were curious: - From Stay @misyaaaa : = Psychedelic trance, psytrance, or psy is a subgenre of trance music characterized by arrangements of rhythms & layered melodies created by high tempo riffs. The genre offers variety in terms of mood, tempo, & style. Side effects by stray kids is psytrance (psychedelic trance) music & apparently it's the the first ever K-pop song to use that genre. It affects brain to calm down the nerves actually that's why the song called Side Effects. 🖖🏽

I clicked this video, screaming in my head, "AMARI HASN'T HEARD SIDE EFFECTS YET?!" Would love to see you work your way through the discography, hitting the tracks you haven't been exposed to yet. There is, of course, huge diversity of sound throughout, but I think it will show you the way their sound has truly developed over time, especially if you listen to the albums as a whole.

It's the first KPop song to use Psytrance. It got a lot of hate when it first came out. The lyrics are pretty deep. Ending is part of the lore.

@@AmariLeonemost people were very split about this song, either they hated it or they loved, no in between. It's quite different from the beats commonly used in kpop, that are more "pop". Psytrance is really hard, and the song does not have a chorus to sing along to, nor a pretty choreo on the drop. It's very unusual😊

It's soo crazy that this song isn't considered as top tier as it is. Between the lyrics, the music and the choreo, I think this is a masterpiece. Much like the Tortoise and the Hare, I LOVE when Stray Kids pushes boundaries to experiment with music.

The chorus does have that "Common side effects may include" line from American direct-to-consumer drug commercials , where it lists out side effects like agitation, headache, anxiety, insomnia, psychosis, dizziness. I love how those side effects are reflected in the choreography as well!! Yes, sometimes the cure's 'side effects' can be worse than the disease itself. 🖖🏽

Old white dudette here. Man, I loved your reactions so much, why did you have to go racist? I totally get the drug commercials but was it necessary to identify a bad thing must mean it’s by “an old white dude”? Why is everything about race? Yesterday, another reactor flipped out when he thought SKZ used the N word when they were just saying You in Korean. As much as I love this song, your words ruined it for me, I had to stop watching. Hopefully the next reaction will be better.

Wasn't about being racist, I simply made a joke about the shitty political system in the US (which has for almost all of our country's history been run exclusively by old white dudes hence the joke). I'm not blaming all old white dudes for it cause the vast majority of people regardless of race, sex or age have no true say in big decisions like the one I talked about but most of our politicians suck & whoever's idea it was to market harmful medicines over the airwaves for profit while brushing over the harmful side effects definitely sucked. This person was more than likely an "old white dude" because again that's who's had the power to make those decisions in this country since before this country was even a country. One easy way to see this in action is that while the US is one of the most diverse nations on earth & has had 46 presidencies & 49 vice-presidencies, we've only had 1 person in each position who couldn't be described as a "white dude" (the "old" part is more subjective & in turn less constant) & both of those happened in the last ~15 years; To jokingly describe our highest political leaders as being "old white dudes" is a statement that is mostly accurate especially historically lol. "Why is everything always about race?" because we live in a world where the most powerful countries have spent centuries teaching us that it matters A LOT. Notice it's rarely the people who've been on the wrong end of that history asking "why's everything about race?". We know why - we learned the hard way. Many people want to act like the effects of that history don't linger since it was "long ago so move on" but we all know it does; In fact many of the people involved in that horrendous history are still alive (for ex. Carolyn Bryant just died last year but the mindset that lead to Emmett Till's lynching is talked about like it died 100 years ago) so to imply that it shouldn't still be in mind/discussion is unrealistic at best & maliciously apathetic at worst. This is why some people are still sensitive about it & why you get people "making things about race" because a lot of things ARE & a lot of people alive remember when EVERYTHING was about race, so it's easy to see the things that aren't as also being about race. For ex. My joke wasn't about race but you called it racist. If race didn't still matter the part of my joke that you took offense to wouldn't have been the part that mentioned race but one of the other parts (my joke was equally as "sexist" & "ageist" as it was "racist") but you didn't because race DOES still matter & that's why people make things about race. That wasn't my intention here (again it was just a joke about US politicians) but figured I'd respond to your question in case you were genuinely curious. Anyway I appreciate you giving my video a watch & never intended to ruin the song for you so I'm sorry to hear that that's the case but I hope you have a great day nonetheless. Edit: For anyone who may come across this interaction later and be curious what we're talking about the joke happens 5:39-6:04

@@AmariLeone It’s not that I am genuinely curious, it’s more that I genuinely care about our world and the future you younger people are facing. Your response only refers to the history of black history in America when there is slavery still happening now of children, women and men of all races worldwide. This is a problem you and I can’t resolve, you are a music producer and I am an old retired woman. A man who I very much admire but you would call an old black dude, Morgan Freeman responded to why black history month is an insult, he said racism will eventually die off if people simply stop talking about it. I honestly didn’t think I would get into this discussion about this with you, but in the end maybe it’s a good thing. I look forward to your next reaction of the group we both love, SKZ. ❤️

@@AmariLeone I'm also a old white lady in the U.S. I agree with your original sentiment. I'm tired of old white men making the rules in a country that has outgrown them. And white people that get offended by references to white people are usually racist, but will do all the "I'm not racist but" things. It's pretty gross. They really should be trying to figure why they get so mad about those things instead. Lastly, white people who think that "black history" in America is not about the time when slavery happened, and don't understand how that history is still effecting people to day, should not be talking about black history. I'm sorry you have to deal with racists, I will never know what it is like, but I try to understand and I try to support where and when I can.

Some people don't know they are racist, and will deny being one, while saying and doing racist things. Sad. @sylvielebrun1733 should stick to reactors that have the same beliefs as she does. Unfortunately, you can like K-pop, and still be racist (and think you're not). But you can always just not comment too.
